Thing is I think Buffalo would be worried about trying to re-sign either guy.
The guy I think Buffalo would move a huge package for would be Andersson.
Dahlin, Power, and Samuelsson are all LH shots. They could really use a top 4 RH shot d-man, who can move the puck, and who is on a value contract.
I think you'd be able to get a huge return from them for Andersson with 2.5 years left at $4.55M
Like easily their 1st (Even if it is top 12) and potentially 1-2 of their other great pieces depending on which piece (Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Rosen, Quinn, Strbak)
My hope really is that the Flames shop Andersson hard at the draft, he's going to be 30 at the start of this next contract, and he will never have more value than he will this offseason with a rising cap, and with 2 years left on a super valuable contract.

Yeah, Flames don't have anyone other than weegar or Andersson locked in beyond this season. It's nice we have some stable farm hands and some up and comers but subtracting without substantially adding to the d corps long term isn't a great idea.

Caps for Cristall + 1st would be amazing. Use their first to draft Cristalls teammate Iggy

Yeah, the forward corps is looking much better than the D as far as the future is concerned. Poirier - maybe. Morin - probably. Kuznetsov, Solvyov - I'm not sold.
I'd like a few prospect Ds coming in trades.

I'm sold on Kuznetsov and Morin. I'm not a believer in Poirier.
I don't think his offensive potential can save him from the worst defensive game I've ever seen.

I haven't seen Poirier, just heard the talk. Kuznetsov didn't do much for me, but I can't claim to have seen him a bunch. Morin looks like a stud in jr.

To be fair, I believe Kuznetsov come in as an NHLer , just later and a bottom pairing guy.

Fair. I think it will be a good long while for him.

Given how much longer D take to mature, I'd like to think they'd be pulling in at least one D prospect in the returns.

Mid-market Canadian teams can’t operate like Vegas. Doesn’t work.

Vegas wouldn't be doing it, it's about maximizing assets and building a winner long term. Not just always doing things one season at a time because you need to make the playoffs every year without a long term plan.
Flames need to be more pro-active with their key assets. They weren't with any of Brodie, Gio, Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, Hanifin, or Lindholm.
Andersson is going to be 30 years old when his next contract kicks in. I'd rather not pay $8.5M for age 30-38 for him when he's already not the most fleet of foot defender.
Also I think it would be a mistake to assume he wants to stay anyways if the team is on the verge of missing the playoffs for the 4th straight season.
Andersson will likely never have more trade value than he will this offseason, and the Flames would be foolish to at least not listen to that.

If moving Andersson gets you Buffalos 2024 1st plus 2 of Savoie, Ostlund or Kulich you drive him to the airport immediately no questions asked. That immediately gives a significant skill injection into the organization.
Then you use Lindholm and Hanifin to get high end defense prospects.
This is how you build a long term contender

I wonder if Kadri and/or Coleman could be traded later this year.
Both are looking great and are known playoff performers, so maybe a contender wants them closer to the deadline.
I like both but if the team does go into some form of rebuild mode, moving one of those contracts and getting back an actual return might be worth it. Particularly Kadri's contract.
