Argentina certainly has the best hair at this World Cup.

I remember the commentators were surprised at the red card especially when the goal was scored. The pundits over here all thought that advantage should have been played especially since there was a good attempt and a goal.

Yeah a goal and not sending off the keeper would have made for a better match.

Korea should have made it 2-2 but choked. Now it's over.

4-1 was a flattering scoreline for Korea but the game never really had any relevance. A single point would have been amazing for them but their keys were always beating Greece and Nigeria from the beginning.

Nigeria with a quick 1-0 lead....so i am to understand that these 2nd and 3rd games should feature a bit more attacking rather than playing not to lose....is that correct?

Brilliant duck under by the Nigerian - totally froze the keeper in his expectation of a header. He will not get credit but the goal was all him.

1-0 Nigeria.

Should be. Especially this one between Greece and Nigeria who both have 0 points. With the Korean loss this morning, the door is open for one of the teams to get 3 points and fight for 2nd place. A draw here does neither team any good.

I thought Korea looks pretty competant going forward but just didn't have enough of the ball. The midfield was chasing shadows and JiSung was marked out of the game.

Hardly surprising considering players on one team play for Real Madrid and Barcelona and players on the other team play for Hyundai and Samsung

Wow.....these red cards are just a little to punitive for my liking. though I have to say, that Nigerian was a complete idiot for even thinking about doing what he did.

Dumb dumb dumb.

Did he even make contact?

Send the Nigerian off for even attempting to kick his opponent, and send the Greek off for that embarrassing act.

That play right there is why non soccer people have so much difficulty getting into the game.

Nope, and even if he had....the attempt was so weak ( more like a faux attempt?) it would not of even registered with the Greek player except for...well...the diving aspect of this sport.

Just ridiculous punishment though IMO.

South American refs love to act tough and give out red cards. They are so easily conned.

Should be a great 2nd half though. At 1-1 the 10 men of Nigeria still have to go forward and they will open up alot of open spaces for Greece to counter.

------

A co-worker who's new to soccer also watching a little just mentioned to me "There's more diving in soccer than hockey eh?

To which my response was "There's more diving in soccer than diving!"

It gets better. He's also automatically suspended for the next game too.

With luck, Nigeria will be able to appeal that decision and get him back for the next game.

Korea had about 2 somewhat decent build-ups by the 65 minute mark - 2! First half possession was 72/28 and final 62/38. They strung together some decent passes near the end but were pretty much observers for most of the match.

This group has some fantastic finishing scenarios. Will be a fun last day.

Man watching these games is like watching the Canucks play the Canucks everyday for a month.

They either need to suspend teams for diving or stop showing slow mo replays altogether in order to save this 'sport'.

Diving is accepted and even sometimes applauded in some of the soccer culture.
The little guy conning the big guy (wink wink), something like that. I know in NA and UK it's unacceptable but it's the World's Game and different cultures play differently.

Save the sport? It's the biggest sport in the world, and always will be.

Ah more soccer discussion around the office

Another question came from a soccer-neophyte about Brazil...why do all of the players only have one name? Pele wasn't named Pele, he was Edson Arantes something something.

So the questions were asked. Why don't other countries use their nicknames? Why is it only Brazil? For instance, instead of "LANDON DONOVAN!" we can say "PUBELESS!".
