Ditto, our front lawn hasn't seen a drop of water or hint of fertilizer over 10 years and it's fine.

Once it's established that is. The new sod we laid last year in our back yard isn't doing so great. Neither is the new seed from May...

The Buddhist Monks next door just laid down new Sod, there are dudes in robes and sandals constantly wandering around their new lawn with watering cans.

I want to ask them how close they think this is to Slave Labour, but I dont really know how to do it delicately.

Not out of this yet:

Quote:
Another issue has been found along the major water main that burst in Calgary more than a month ago as work continues to re-stabilize the pipe following repairs.

In an afternoon update on Thursday, city officials say a third wire snap was detected along the Bearspaw South feeder main, but the snap does not mean another break is imminent.

Calgary’s infrastructure manager Francois Bouchart says the additional snap does indicate there are other areas of concern along the pipe that need long-term rehab and suggests the pipe is under some stress as pressure increases

This is like the ####tiest pipe of all pipe or what?

1960's vintage oil pipes perform better.

Somebody in the city’s engineering department in the 1970’s listened to too much vendor hype. 100 year lifespan my ass. More like 50 years is what other municipalities have experienced, and we’re at 49 years.

Mark my words, that whole line is going to need full replacing sooner rather than later.

Wire snaps are common in these pipes as well as structures that use the same tech. It's just when you get to say 50... then it becomes a big concern. Now, I'm curious what their baseline inspection showed them when they had it shut down, were they already at 30 broken wires? Or in this segment was there only a few? Who knows. At least the monitoring they added is working.

Was reading through the restrictions and apparently I can bust out my pressure washer as long as I'm doing renovations or painting afterwards. LOL

I watered my garden with a hose today.

Now I feel like I should turn myself into the FBI.

It goes to show you how crazy things have become that you would even think that.

I’m watering a small area of my back lawn today South south west facing. Totally brown/ beige , neighbours trees suck up all the moisture . The rest of the lawn is fine. I just need to help a small area.

If the brownshirts come I feel totally justified in my firearm ownership. Fortress

I've been noticing that people are starting to water their lawns. Just got home from walking the dog and several backyards had water going.

Those might be kiddie pools. I was at a buddies house and they have a kids pool, which is allowed now, and it has a sprayer/fountain built in. Their neighbor also had some sprayer thing going that was part of a kids pool.

I inherited a field in Fenn Big Valley. Entire gathering system was suiss cheese. Turns out the entire field was shut in for a year and a half due to their sales line failing. I was in charge of shutting it in again. There were five jobs on the line. Ran a bunch of liners, did some looping, nightmare. Engineers are the best at paying forward their fata ups to future ones.

There’s nothing they can do now to look good, this is 50 years of decisions and cuts.

Moron public thinks everything is set it and forget it. Concrete is the best and cheapest material in compression. Not so much in tension.

Where do you put rebar in a concrete beam? The top or the bottom or throughout?
