Chucky is an amazing talent and very good at what he does. Underrated passers with vision, super high hockey IQ, solid on the boards and has a good shot as well. Annoying he didn't want to stay in Calgary, but cest la vie

With so much focus on that 1st we overlook some other soul-crushing misses:

BUF traded us 42 and 21 for 14. We used 42 on Sieloff.

We traded BUF our 2nd in the Regehr deal, which became 44OA Jake McCabe.

Then:

74 Lindell
75 Gillies
76 Driedger
77 Stephenson
78 Gostisbehere
81 Sundqvist
83 Matt Murray
85 Grzelyck
86 Parayko
87 Freddie Andersen

Another stretch with 9 NHLers in the span of 14 picks where we managed to whiff

I still remember them drafting Mason McDonald over Thatcher Demko.

Yup, this has become groundhog day for him. He should have enough money to be set for his and his future kid's lives too.

More on Monny. Played with a broken foot in the homecoming game?

Monahan arrived for a game in Calgary on Dec. 1 wearing a plastic-boot cast on his right foot. He logged 20:08 of ice time that night and picked up two assists in a 2-1 victory over the Flames. Monahan was wearing the cast again after the game during a media scrum.

Injuries robbed Monny of a chunk of his prime. He likey would’ve hit 40 at some point. I just hope he’s able to live his life outside of hockey pain free more than anything

In terms of "things that went wrong" for this team, Monahan's injury related decline is amongst the biggest factors.
Imagine last year's team, with a healthy in-his-prime Monahan?
Sigh.

Tough few years for Monahan. Such a good dude and was a small bright light when he arrived. The early combo of him and Johnny looked like a match made in heaven that we were going to enjoy for years.

He'll always be a Flame, regardless of where he goes.

Just another thing in the long list of bad luck and terrible timing that seems to curse this franchise. Players get injuries, but Monahan's played out at exactly the time that set up the need to move him, just when the cost to do so was at an all time high.

Chucky with 6 points in his last 2 games, as Florida pushes for the last playoff spot. He now has 30 more points than the second place guy on the team (Verhaeghe).

He might be playing in a scoring friendly system, but they guy deserves some credit for having this kind of season immediately upon signing a huge new deal.

I don't watch much Florido hockey but when he was here, Tkachuk was a player that played both ends of the ice. I can't believe he would have abandoned that.

He has been their mvp by a mile, without him they never would be in a playoff race to begin with. Barkov has had a very average to bad season by his standards, a lot of on and off the ice issues has probably taken a toll. So Tkachuk has really had to carry the load.

What is Barkov's problem? He was always very consistent.

Broken thumb
2 herniated disks
Groin Operation
Left wrist surgery (x2)
Left hip surgery
Broken foot
And now some new mystery injury

For a guy that doesn't play a physical game, this is quite the list. He's either very unlucky or genetically prone to injury.

How this guy plays through so much pain is unbelievable. Have we ever seen him wince or complain?
