True enough, I just think he is an elite playmaker. That’s the kind of skill I’d like to watch at the dome.

Malkin would be cool. Top line of Tkachuk-Malkin-Lindholm? Thats pretty good.
It's term the Pens are screwing him on and apparently like a million or two . If I do some weak maths, I figure he's looking for a 4 year x 7m deal

If the Flames sign Kane, regardless of what happens with Johnny, I will no longer be a fan of this organization.

Very possible seeing Burke is the guy that drafted him. Back east closer to home as well for him.

Malkin's gonna be one of those guys that 15 years from now we look back and say
"WTF Malkin played for Washington, Minnesota, the Islanders and San Jose at the end of his career?"

Love it or hate it, I still think it was awesome seeing Jagr play for Calgary, even if it was for such a short time.

I doubt Malkin is getting a long term deal. He is just too injury prone at this point. I could see something like a 1 year, $9.5 million or 2 year $16 million deal though. If the Flames lose Johnny and decide to not rebuild, I would take him and chance it. Worst case is that he gets injured and the team tanks forcing a rebuild anyway. Best case scenario is that he helps keep the Flames at the top of the division.

I'd be shocked if we see any offer sheets this year...the only teams confident enough to be far away from the lottery don't have cap space.
Any team contemplating one would probably try hard to make a trade that costs a little more than the offer-sheet compensation but adds protections to the 1st (ie. 1st + 2nd + 2nd instead of 1st+2nd+3rd; and of course you could include players/prospects)
MTL going for Necas could be fun though. MTL is still eligible to win another lottery next year though so it has immense backfire risk.

Pretty sure Burke called him out when both were part of TO organization.

I'm hearing from a semi reliable source Forsberg may be coming to Calgary.

Teams that could do an offer sheet and it work out greatly in their favor? New Jersey, Ottawa, Carolina, and Columbus. All have the space, have the assets to forgo the picks, and have the bones where adding a major player could dramatically change their fortunes. New Jersey scares me the most in this regard.
