This attitude towards criminal justice in the U.S. is a big reason why the U.S. has such a substantial number of innocent black people languishing in jails. My opinions on this aren't going to change just because I find what Ruggs did to be particularly egregious.
The problem of black incarceration vis a vis bail and its injustices, are rooted in the exact opposite of this situation.
Ruggs got out because he's rich enough to afford to get out.
Those people in lockup awaiting trial should be released on their own recognizance - if they can't cobble together $1000 or $5000 for bail, they aren't going to buy an airline ticket to Venezuela.

SCD's argument is the same system and mentality that prosecutors use to get easy convictions though. It's a garbage system and mentality, but it just so happens that Ruggs' wealth makes him immune to it.
You can't just customize the legal system to run according to every individual case and the need to satisfy the public's bloodlust. It runs on precedent. What SCD is advocating for in this circumstance would inevitably lead to more harm and systemic racism towards black people.

When an example is made, it then becomes precedent for other prosecutors around the cou try. Like you said, as much as it sucks in a case like this, innocent until proven guilty.
I save my fast driving for video games like dirt rally. Wish others would do the same
Are you 22 years old and just having come into a pretty big chunk of money?
That is an issue with people that young having the means to buy fast cars and just have a drivers license. Although a Corvette is pretty modest by Pro Athlete standards.
The sad thing is that Las Vegas of all cities offers those who have the means some really good options if you want to experience driving a car really fast. An afternoon at the race track driving whatever you feel like can be done there a lot easier than say Buffalo.
It's just such a needless thing to happen. Feel terrible for the people who are impacted by such a neglegent act.

Graphic footage of Ruggs sobbing on the ground after the accident, as the victims car is on fire
Scary thing is even at that speed the girl didn't die instantly. She was trapped in a raging fire as bystanders tried to save her. That's just horrifying.
