No surprise really that the year where the Refs are technologically forced into finally calling a fair game that Liverpool are finding resounding success.

It will be interesting to see if they make some sort of change to the way VAR rules on offside, I don't think there are that many people fully happy with how it's applied. I think there is just too much room for error to call it so close. They should probably build in a margin of error.
They need to change or drop Var... at minimum let anything close go and the call on field stand unless it is clearly offsides.
These armpit and arm cells are genuinely ruining games and taking goals and excitment away and there is no plus side for the game.
Or if it stays at least come up with a line that can be applied more cleanly and objectively. Like a foot or boot that everyone can see creating a black and white standard. Or some other body part that is part of the core (like the head) they can apply a line to cleanly. Preferably not an upper extremity you can even use in soccer which is nonsense and does not confer any advantage. And certainly not an armpit you cant even see or define
Palace dropped 2 points yesterday because Mariner who hates Zaha historically, was in the Var booth and drew a line of Zaha's armpit marginally (like maybe an inch or two) ahead of the other player. And it was literally a guess of where his arm ends and his body begins. It was absolutely ridiculous and totally subjective.

I think every fan can unilaterally agree that offside, especially in terms of VAR really needs to be redefined.
I mean, its patently unfair in some cases....if that was Guendouzi or David Luiz their afros would be offside constantly and in Luiz's case probably plays attackers onside unfairly.

I think k they should have to watch it back at an agreed upon speed and if they can't determine that a player is offside, it's fine. That takes care of things that are egregious and just missed, but also gets rid of the stupidity. They apply this extremely precise standard to the line where the player's offside today, but there is still flex as to when the ball is struck for the pass...it's just foolish.
And as Matty says above, it's ruining games. You see an excellent pass or passage of play and as a fan you want to get excited and cheer a goal. Only to find out someone might have been a millimeter offside somewhere in the buildup? It's beyond ridiculous. There is no advantage in that, and it's against the spirit of the game IMO.
My favorite thing is all the announcers or pundits saying var is ruining the game
When 2 years ago they would look at these offsides plays that were missed by millimeters and rag on the refs for failing the game
I don't think anyone was clamoring for offsides to be called on players 1mm over though? It was always the play where somehow a player was a foot offside and it was missed.
That said, with contract expiring in 18 months (+12 month club option), next summer is when his value will be highest. $125m? He’s been injury plagued the last few years.
Just too much noise around him.
How would that eliminate close calls? You'd still have just as many plays where a heal is millimeters on or off.
Because forwards are so good that it’s usually pretty close to being onside, just an arm or so is offside.
Feel like also determining if a player is completely offside by a hair with Greenspace between the defender and him just seems more fair than trying to determine if his armpit is offside by a mm.
Danny Ings winning the golden boot is an unexpected plot twist on the season.
His goal was a nice one today. I don't get this Spurs team. When you look at the lineup it's overall good with some excellent pieces thrown in. It's not that there are no weak links, but they should be better than they have shown this season. They just don't perform though, and while we had a season or two of over achieving, this is pretty far under achieving I think.
