Ryan seems like a perfect fit for the Flames, big RW who can skate and high end skill. The skill and size package is worth the $7 million and change but the lack of intensity and consistency warrants a discount. I think the Sens would have to eat at least a million to a million and a half to move him. That puts his salary is line with Eberle and even then, I'm not sure who the better asset is.
Flames would have to move one of Brouwer or Frolik in return though.

If we sent Stajan (presuming he would waive)and bouma the other way, short term this would help us take that contract on. It's downstream where it would hurt us.

The last time Bobby was worth anything close to 7.25m was about 7 years ago. He only gets worse from here, until well into the 2020's when he'll still be some poor NHL team's problem. Let that team be anyone but the Flames.

This place can be bizarro-world at times!
In one thread we've got busting Sam Bennett is no good, and in another we are trading picks and prospects for 7m+ cap hit Bobby Ryan who has the same stats!
I know this isn't the general consensus by any means, but wow, each thread is like a box of chocolates; you just don't what you're going to find.

Ryan's contract is so ridiculous that I would not be surprised if the Sens expose him in the expansion draft hoping to be free of the $36M+ remaining

Methot? He's big, tough, and perhaps too expensive for the Sens @ $4.9M for 2 more years considering he does not provide any offense. Acquiring Methot would move Brodie back to the right side though, which the club has said they don't want to do.
Lazar? Once highly touted, and now only has 1 assist in 29 games. Right shooting C, RW. I don't think he'd cost very much... the way he's stalling and his age, it seems similar to what happened with Baertschi here.
Pageau? 24yo, right shooting C, and while he only has 19 points this season, he did have 43 points last year. He seems undersized for a C though @ 5'10''. Does anyone watch the Sens much? Does Pageau also play RW? Needs a new contract after this season.
I don't believe there is any circumstance where we acquire Ryan. He may not even reach 40 points this season, and is still under contract for 5 more years @ $7.25M.
All of this Sens scouting is actually quite confusing. They've got a good hold on a playoff spot, and so I think they'd rather trade any RFAs in summer. As for pending UFAs, they've really only got Neil and Wingels, and they would never move a player like Neil right before playoffs.
So I guess that leaves Wingels?

Bouma,
Obviously a roster player would be going the other way, I think the Flames are going to potentially expose Brouwer anyways and a package around him would be ideal:
To Sens
Brouwer
1st round pick 17
2nd round pick 18
Andersson
Poirier
To Flames
Ryan
Lazar
Usually way off with prices as you know haha! Still fun to though!

There was nothing fun about reading that proposition, oh my god.

Ryan has negative value, and Lazar's shouldn't be more than a late 2nd round pick.
People may argue that Lazar is worth more, but keep in mind what other former high picks were traded for:
24yo, 6th OA, Gagner for Purcell
23yo, 1st OA, Yakupov for 3rd round pick
22yo, 10th OA, Paajarvi for Perron
22yo, 18th OA, Teravainen for 2nd + 3rd round picks
22yo, 13th OA, Baertschi for 2nd round pick
22yo, 15th OA, Holland for 3rd + 7th round picks
22yo, 16th OA, Colborne for 4th round pick
21yo, 10th OA, Hodgson for Kassian
21yo, 13th OA, Tlusty for Paradis
Lazar is a 22yo, former 17th OA, with 1 assist in 29 games.

I would take Phaneuf back on the Flames if he made half of his current caphit. He'd be a perfect #4 defenseman for this team.

Not interested in Ryan or Lazar. I mean I would take Lazar (wasn't a fan in his draft year as he lacked high end scoring talent) in a trade for Piorier or Klimchuk who are equivalents in first round picks that haven't proven they are NHL players but I don't think you trade picks for him unless they are a package of picks that don't include 1st or 2nd rounders.

Might take a flyer on Lazar for a mid round pick or so but huge pass on Ryan.

Not sure why Ottawa would be willing to dump Lazar, even with his crappy year.

Unless they don't like his attitude I agree as they would be selling low.

Friedman said recently that internally Ottawa now believes Lazar will never be the point producer that they thought he would be when they drafted him. I think they are trying to recover some assets by selling him to a team that still thinks he can reach that potential.

Lazar for Bouma
Weren't the Sens looking for a 3rd/4th line forward?
Lazar takes Chaissons spot on the Bennett line with Versteeg

I doubt the Sens want Bouma's contract and I highly doubt the value is sufficient

Lol, Chiasson is replaced by Lazar...
Not offensively, not athletically and certainly not defensively..
Chiasson is so under appreciated.. and to be replaced by a kid who can't even break the Sens lineup.. damn..
