well despite their terrible hitting and untimely horrible bullpen, they're 17-17 and expected record is actually 19-15.
In 34 games this season the Jays have managed to score more then 5 runs only 6 times. Last season they AVERAGED 5.5 runs per game.
As bad as the bullpen has been it would be nice if not every game was a hold/save situation. The Jays seem to be getting runs in the first inning but are completely lacking the killer instinct to put teams away.

No confidence there at all. He needs a psychologist. I feel bad because he's still the best fielding SS, he just can't hit.

Floyd for President of 8th inning please!
I wouldn't be sad to see Cecil and Storen play once every 10 games

Cecil will be fine. There is nothing showing that this is anything but a string of bad luck, just getting hit. Storen on the other hand can be DFA'd tomorrow for all I care. His velocity is down and he has ZERO confidence.

Floyd was great in spring training, and I know his supposed to be more of a long man, but why not trot him out there instead? The bullpen is constantly evolving anyway - just makes no sense to me.

Woo - prediction came true in one day! Floyd just looked like he knew what he was doing. Hopefully we can keep him there for a while, and in the meantime Storen can find him game and gain some confidence.
Also, when is the NL going to come into 21st Century and get the DH? I hate the pitcher hitting so much, it just ruins the flow of the game. For example, when Goins gets on with 1 out, you might think, "hey, if the 9-hole gets on we could turn this into a big inning". Nope! Sanchez just jabs his bat out on 2 of the weakest bunt attempts of all time and then flails at strike 3. Yup - that's what good old fashioned baseball is all about...

One could argue that without the dh the pitchers wouldn't be so horrible at the plate.

I think Cecil will be fine. I wonder how much the pending birth of his child was having in affecting his mental state and concentration. Obviously it wouldn't be at the front of his mind when he's on the mound, but it could have affected his day-to-day preparation, especially if there were any complications...

Good for Tulo!
They're always talking about how he's so beloved on the team, etc. To me he doesn't seem like the kind of player that guys rally around, so it's nice to hear that.

Still early, but how would you rate the team so far? I think I'd go to A for starting pitching, D for bullpen, C- for hitting
