Sounds like there's more cheering for Russia actually.
What a terrible defense. Just like against NA they get scored from the front of the net. Free defeseman wanders out of position.

Not going to lie. I'm ok with Gaudreau not playing in this tournament anymore. Plus its easier to cheer for Canada against Russia.

I expect so. It is too bad they couldn't play Sweden every game.

Well, guess this is goodbye Team NA. The blame lies squarely on the coaching staff. First by not playing Johnny's line on the 6 on 4 against Russia to tie the game. And second, for not going for the regulation win against the Swedes. What a joke of a coach Mclellan has become. It's like his year in Edmonton made him even worse as a coach.

The Fins have scored 1 goal in the first 147 minutes of the tournament.
Now they need to score 2 in the next 33 minutes to get it into OT.

Edmonton stank rubs off on everyone, not just players

I feel that main thing is that Finland is that it's a slow team by modern standards. Hard to get systems to click if you're not fast enough.
Granlund has zero killer instinct as a shooter, no matter how hard he tries.

It's irritating, because most of the wounds done were self inflicted. NA was much better than Russia, and better than Sweden, yet came out of it siting on the sidelines in the tourney.
Coaching mistakes the past 2 games:
- Letting Murray in too long when he clearly was injured / not at 100%
- Constantly try to get McDavid going instead of riding the hot hands (Gaudreau / Mackinnon / RNH)
- Overplay Matthews for no explicable reason than to have him with McDavid
- Play Mathews / Eichel / McDavid on the 5 on 3 instead of guys that did something this tourney at that point
- Pull the goalie late
- Not have Gaudreau on at all until the last 40 seconds of the game when it was a 6 on 4, while keeping McDavid and Mathews on who just played the last 2 minutes.
- Not telling his team that Sweden had to be beat in regulation
- Not pulling the goalie knowing they needed a regulation win
As a Flames fan I love it because it is a sign of things to come with the Oilers this year. As a hockey fan I thought it was a travesty to have the most exciting team likely to ever be assembled be out because of a coach who is too busy coaching for the upcoming NHL season, than he was the actual tournament.

There should have been a quarter final game and one less re-tournament game.

nah, it worked out perfectly. Made the round robin games do or die. USA is out cause they suck, Czechs and Finns were also bad and NA is out because their coach made mistakes. In the end Sweden and Russia won two games in regulation, NA did not.

I'm cheering for Russia. I want Johnny to get back to contract talks, and avoid Injury.
Plus, I love Ovi and I want him to win something major.

It's disappointing because you expect them to find a way to perform, but in the end they have the worst lineup in the tournament.
A little sad to find out that the worst team in the tournament is actually the worst team, but not surprising.
However I do think they'll play the third period super hard. Something might come out of it. Perhaps the second goal of the tournament!

The tournament was set up to have a Canada-US final and 2 Canada-US games. That's why they put 4 "good" teams in 1 group and 2 cream-puffs with Canada and US. The Gypsies ruined their plans...
