Definitely Virtue Signalling, but not gonna touch Identity Politics.

I’m on the fence with Echo Chamber. Kinda d-baggy, but maybe it just gets and honourable mention

I used to be irrationally annoyed by "finna" until I learned it was short for "fixing to" not some weird butchering of "gonna".

Related gear grinder: dropping "to be" from a sentence, like "needs replaced" instead of "needs to be replaced".

It’s super lame when the guy who never watches or talks about any sports, least of all college basketball, suddenly becomes a huge college basketball fan this time of year…

Makes me want to just download bet365 but I dont like online gambling. They ask so many questions, set up an interview and then after interview there is a 2nd investigation before they actually give you the cheque. It's sports betting, like what is there to investigate? If I paid a ref off? Online the money would already be in my account.

So got an update on a gear grinder that got fixed.

Got a call today asking me if I'd like to join a pilot program that they are trying in Calgary. They are going to try making the Calgary office a major prize office as well so I no longer need to drive past that ####hole in edmonton.

So they are inviting you to be a future winner? What does it cost to get on that list?

Gear grinding of a different sort - maybe Fata but my gears were ground, so....I'm a guy who has always supported smaller, local stores where possible, and bigger local ones when not. This occurred with the latter.

Went to a Home Depot y'day to buy some things; looked for a Dremel attachment - a chainsaw sharpening kit. Maybe $25 or so. Medium-sized Dremel display ... no chainsaw kits, not a bit surprised.

Got home, and online...checked...and all out of stock or not offered:

- Canadian Tire (3 local stores in the middle of BC here)
- Home Hardware (3 more local stores)
- Rona (2 stores)

- Home Depot (2 local stores..one with it in stock...a 1.5 hr drive from me - one way)

Amazon: 2 clicks and 2 minutes...$1 less than any of the others, will be delivered in 3 days for free.

I absolutely despise what Jeff Bezos stands for and dislike dealing with Amazon...but there are times when the local retailers have just locked themselves out of business because they just....don't....have....stock. How much does this cost the Canadian economy and the people who work in these places?

For the above kinds of stores, none of them small suppliers, how many times a day does that kind of thing happen? I can understand my local Stihl dealer not having a particular chain in for a saw...and he's happy to order me one...but large multi-store organizations...? Sheesh. Grinds my gears.

My wife runs a home based beauty business so there's always clients parked in our driveway during the day. This becomes annoying when it snows and I have to deal with hard packed snow from multiple vehicles when I go to shovel. Knowing it was going to snow today, I thought I'd be smart and put out a big yellow No Parking sign in the middle of my driveway last night. That might have worked had her clients actually bothered to look, but instead they all seemed to drive into the driveway, finally notice the sign, then back out again, leaving me with just as many snow packed tire tracks to deal with. Then as a cherry on top, one client tried to park in our driveway as I'm in the middle of clearing it with the snow blower, looking confused when I told her to to wait until I'm finished at least

The complete lack of critical thinking skills in the general population really GMG

Can't your wife shovel between clients? Seems like a "her" job if she's home and running a business. Plus you probably don't want customers doing the ole' slip-and-fall thing accessing her work.

I thought it as a portmanteau of "finally gonna"
