Canada has given 0.32% of it's GDP to Ukraine.
Estonia has given 4.14%. This is not the same.
Poland has given 1.32%.
Finland has given 1.29%.
Germany has given 1.06%
Spain has given 0.9%
Italy has given 0.67%
UK has given 0.55%.
There's 17 European countries that have given more bilateral aid to Ukraine than Canada, relative to GDP, and of course bilateral aid is just on top of what EU countries have already given through EU.
I am talking military specific aid. Is that what you are referencing?
Because Canada has a terribly underfunded military, and Russia isn't our neighbour.

What is going on with the F16 and other airforce jets/helicopters??? This has become total nonsense considering the basic military tactic that has been discussed, having air superiority to conduct operations.
The US and it's partners really dropped the ball in this regard and have not operated in the speed in which it was required. Countless deaths, lost ground, loss of top tier pilots and more have occurred while dithering. It was more than a year ago there was hope that a deal would be announced.
Fast forward to 2024 and there is "hope" that a few jet's MAY arrive by the middle of summer. Why the delays when western military officials have routinely said that they would never conduct offensive operations without having the level of air support required?? Doing offensive operations without air support leads to mass casualties, loss of equipment and ground, exactly what has occurred for the good guys!

I am no expert on the matter but it's training isn't it. They're not your average jet from what I understand and require training.
Yeah roughly 5-6 months for even a seasoned western pilot to train on an F-16, I think they even said it would be late 24 before those Ukrainians in training would be ready.

And maintenance
You don’t just come back and park those this until the next flight

Does anyone else find it a little terrifying these drones can literally hunt people down, there's no hiding and you basically never see it coming?
Just wait until these things are 100% automated with AI. It will be like a Black Mirror episode coming to life.
I am glad that the Ukraine aid was approved. I was worried that the perception that Russia's military are a bunch of bumbling fools would hurt the urgency to keep supplying Ukraine. As much as we like to point out the failures of the Russian military (and there have been some major ones), they are still ranked as the 2nd most powerful military in the world by most indexes and have been improving and adapting. I think some parties in the West were starting to downplay Russia's capabilities and when Ukraine lost some ground it seemed to diminish what Ukraine is actually up against.

Aren't you the one who was saying you were embarrassed about Canada and its lack of support for Israel?
Last I checked Israel isn't our neighbor either and you wanted Canada to do more but in this situation you are saying Russia isn't our neighbor defending Canada....

This tweet is a good reminder for the "where are the F-16's group".
You can't just park these at the end of the runway.

If the defense contractor stuff is true, which wouldn't surprise me in the least, I'd put my money on Shoigu coming out on top after ousting Putin. The dude's occupied senior roles in the halls of power since the good old soviet days and is a master survivalist. Ruthless and cunning, his only hurdle would be the FSB which is less powerful than the military. He could take over, put Putin in custody for treason, then run for president after ending the war (it was all Putins idea! He's cost us 500,000 lives and the destruction of our military! Join me and I'll take us back to the promised land!)

The Russian circle of life begins anew.
In soviet times I think Shoigu would have been a no brainer. But now? I feel like current Russia is much too racist to allow a Tatar to become the president.

I didn't know he was from an ethnic minority, thank you, that's an interesting dynamic.
He is actually half Tuvan, who are a n indigenous Siberian group. His mother was Ukrainian and if she were alive, would probably kill herself for not having an abortion.
