I was taking a mandatory cyber crime course last week and the speaker was saying that the demographic that is getting hit the most by these scams is actually the millenials. I think that things have gotten more sophisticated, and millenials (and GenX that is close enough to millenials to make fund of boomers, but not close enough to be annoying!) are probably more trusting of things online in general? I don't know, and I'm just speculating, but it was a surprise to me.

On another note, I have always wondered what fata means? I see it written on CP often from other posters too and I have zero clue what it is?

Well it all began when we got Rico Fata, from there 'Fata' has become kind of like the term 'Smurf.'

It can mean whatever you want it to mean and that meaning can be held in the eye of the beholder and it certainly is not a devious means of subverting the swear filter in any manner or capacity.

I'd think it has more to do with various forms of payment?

Touchless payment, having credit cards linked to watches and phones etc, seems like it would be less secure?

And further, a lot of younger people prefer to pay for things with their debit cards when one should always, ALWAYS pay by credit card.

Some what along that concept, there are several words and phrases people use here in arguments that I never hear in “in person” situations. Not saying they’re not used correctly, they just come across as something learned in a “management for d-bags” seminar.

It has two meanings here (three if you count Rico Fata, the person). One is the f-word and I feel like that’s self explanatory. But other is for things that were already posted. It’s because there were 7 threads started when we got him and just kind of became part of the lexicon from there.
