VLC is being taken down from the app store (if it isn't already). Get it now if you want it.

VLC is still there, just got it. Thanks. I got the VLC remote too. I would have gotten the paid one, but $5 is expensive.

Im glad I did a calculation on how much online radio streaming can cost in bandwidth (using the tunein app). At 64 kbps I'd rack up 400 mega bytes in a month with the average usage of an hour for each work day i have. that's crazy... switching it to 32 and making sure my usage is limited. holy smokes.

Completely different apps. VLC remote is to control VLC on your computer and is not made by the VLC group.

not sure if this has been posted yet but sportacular by yahoo is amazing. i may consider buying it for no ads... it's really well done. the only downside is no CFL. really annoying that i have to use yahoo and tsn so i can get both CFL and college football

Well what the hell would you expect? Video is child's play. All it requires is a detection of the underlying codec and then an on the fly conversion to an Html 5 container. It's as simple as any on the fly video conversion. Converting flash websites and games is an entirely different thing, and certainly nothing that can be done on the fly. It would be like instantly converting a native windows program to run in native Mac OS instantly...just not possible.

i want to thank everyone for the suggestions and especially the people who brought up tune in radio. i was able to put on some croatian radio for my dad today and he was almost overwhelmed with joy, it was worth more than any app fee could possibly cost.

Of course it is.
Darwine emulates the Win32 API.
Smokescreen emulates Flash in Javascript & HTML5.
I laughed at real-time video transcoding as "child's play".

Darwine doesn't emulate the Win32 API, its a re-write that is binary compatible with the Win32 API. This is even more impressive, since in emulation you are abstracting an underlying layer. Darwine is 100% native.

It was pulled from the app store because they moved to many copies and their servers could not handle the demand. It will be back next week supposedly.

When it's installed on both phones you need to send a request (makes sense) and then the other person has to accept your request. Then the info it sends back says it is accurate within 2447 metres.
