The Rays are the dumbest thing in sports.

What an enigma with the Rays when it comes to the Blue Jays. Guaranteed losses against them no matter the quality of the team.

Typical Jays, sweep the Padres turn get swept by the Rays
In the division the Jays only have a winning record against the O's
Orioles 396-341 W1 53.7%
Red Sox 336-399 W2 45.7%
Rays 211-257 L2 45.1%
Yankees 328-400 L2 45.1%

Santander fouling out on a middle middle pitch. Springer pops out on a middle middle pitch. These are the types of pitches the middle of the order needs to crush.

1-5 against the Rays do far. 7 more games against them. So 7 more losses. This team will never make the playoffs when the Rays just curbstomp them every year.

It’s one thing for the wheels to fall off Bassit and the bullpen, but as troubling a trend that seems to be, worse again is 0 runs.
Usually in these blowout games the opponent pitcher in throwing strikes to get it over with and that means opportunity to get some good cuts and hits and runs…0 runs again today.

I'm not watching this game but just watching the boxscore increase. This is exactly where leadership needs to come down hard and respectfully can Atkins.

I think the Jays need to facilitate Cal Raleigh to the Rays somehow (3 way trade for Jansen+ to Seattle where the Jays eat some salary?).
Then they can just forfeit vs the Rays and have a chance vs the Mariners.

The real test will be how they bounce back against Texas today.
It's annoying as #### but I've come to accept that the Jays will never play well against the Rays in my lifetime. Since the Rays got "good" in 2008. The Jays have only had 2 winning seasons against them. And just barely. 11-8 in '14 and 10-9 in '17. There is an actual argument to say that the Rays have only ever been good because of their record against the Jays propping them up. In the 2010's the Jays record against the Rays was 72-111 good enough for a whopping 0.400 win percentage. It gets slightly worse so far this decade at 32-50 and a 0.390 win percentage. Just incredible stuff. And one of the weirdest things in sports.

Weird stuff like that happens in all sports (eg Honda Center curse for the Flames)
Very frustrating as a fan of the Jays though.

Seriously. So many wasted opportunities. Especially against a pitcher like Degrom. Gotta get him while he's down.
Some #### luck though. That liner by Vlad had a .700xba. But of course the fielder didn't even have to take a step.

Marcus Semien still has one of the weirder career arcs in baseball. MVP season, crap season, MVP season, crap season, MVP season, crap season. Now he's in the middle of an absolutely horrible season. Must be on the downswing of his career.
