What have you done for me lately, ER?
Let them have their fun. Either the Oilers are for real and it doesn't matter and we'll get our fair share of flack until the Flames put it together OR they'll come back down to earth and so much hilarity will ensue.
As for making fun of the Flames on a Flames forum, I think that's fair game in a thread dedicated to making fun of the Oilers....
It's a hockey rivalry. Who cares? All in good fun.

Cool. If you don't care than why are you trying to influence how people behave in this thread?

I think it's fun to make fun of Oiler fans and think people shouldn't be butt hurt when they make fun back.

All the versions of this thread are a joke. Really what is the purpose, both franchises have been pretty bad, for quite some time. Are we celebrating being less worse?
The Oilers last decade is of course notably bad..historically bad
The flames have been average or below average for a decade or longer, I guess average is something to cheer for
In the end both franchises have had very few playoff wins, zero cups for 25+ years and 10 and 11 year Stanley cup final droughts

Yeah neither team has been very good. Edmonton has been historic levels of bad where Calgary was on the treadmill of mediocrity from 07-13 before deciding to rebuild.
This thread exists because there is a rival city and team 3 hours to our north. Both cities and canvases rip each other. Edmonton has the 80's and Calgary has everything else like being a far nicer more desirable city to live in. Edmonton has been easy to pile on and we take advantage that is what rivals do. They have McDavid and Rogers Place which a current feathers in their cap and they are coming back with some jabs. It is too be expected. Both places will always hate on each other. This thread will always exist

one team has missed the playoffs for 10 consecutive seasons (tying an NHL record) and has four 1st overall picks.
the Oilers and their fans deserve all the criticism in the world.

You now look like a middling NHL team in November. Good job Greaseville!!
When the rest of the league realizes your one play is to give the puck to McJesus and watch him single handedly tear into the offensive zone, they will find a way to frustrate him, and you will be lucky to make the playoffs. That team is still not built for a cup challenge and will need a 4th rebuild to amount to more than a fart in the wind.

Why are people trying to apply logic here? We should cool it? Take our lumps?
This is a rivalry.
Edmonton could win the cup while Calgary finishes last but misses out on the top pick thanks to the lottery (legitimately the worst NHL centric scenario I could think of).
E would still (and always will) = No f'n Good
Why? Because we're Flames fans. Get over it. You don't see Philly shrugging and giving the Pens their dues.
If Calgary should find itself in a bad situation, I expect the hate to grow stronger. If anything it's nice to see them do well, you never want to be the guy picking on the sad kid.

I agree. Rivalry is a good thing. Winning 31 out of 41 games going back to 2009 is quite the arse kicking. Even if they handily win the season series it will take at minimum 5 seasons to level out the series for that time frame.

Lol. How many seasons were the flames playing meaningful games more than a month into the season? Look, the oilers had 10 years where there was zero on the line after October. Think about that for a minute. They went through likely the worst stretch of competitiveness of any team in any sport. They were the Washington generals for ten years. It'll take a few more years for the clown nose to come off that organization

How dare you besmirch the good name of the Washington Generals in such a careless fashion!
Those men had a job to do and they went out and did it, and did it with pride every single day!
The Edmonton Oilers' job was to win hockey games and they failed, not only spectacularly, but conclusively.
If the Edmonton Oilers were a Bingo Team they'd be legendary, but alas, they're not in the Bingo World Cup and as such they are No Good.

My favorite part of the E=NG threads is Bertuzzied started the original in 2004, it was dormant for like 10 years and then I can't even remember what caused the necrobump, but suffice to say it was a crucial necrobump.

And then stood out at the end of the shooting range for a decade wearing a clownsuit.

I'm fine with Oiler fans, as long as they're contributing to the forum everywhere and not just this thread then it's all in good fun. It's posters like AlbertaOiler72 and our long lost friend VERVE that disappear for months and only pop up in this thread when things are going well that annoys me.

Aren't you the biggest troll on HFboards when it comes to the Flames? Lol it's no surprise you show up on CP when the Oilers are winning and disappear when they're losing.
Honestly I have no respect for fans like you that only show up when their team wins.
Taking shots at the Flames is fine as long as you're here for when the times get tough in Edmonton.
