He's on a pretty bad inexperienced Finland team, playing against one of the best assembled teams in the world and has yet to play an NHL game. It would likely be a little different if he was on a better team.

Outcome of the game has zero impact on a contract for Gaudreau IMO.

Here's another way to look at it...
The more games Gaudreau plays in this tournament, the fewer pre-season games he'll need to be ready for the regular season. So what you you rather him play: a few more high stakes games against the best players in the world, or a few more no stakes games against scrubs trying to make a name for themselves?
