There are 54 games remaining.
28 games are against the Baltimore's the Yankees', Tigers, Mariners etc.
26 games are against mediocre teams.
They'll probably have to go at least 14-14 against the good teams, and 17-9 against the meh ones to have a shot at the wild card.

Hopefully if they get him it's for nothing much in particular in the larger scheme of things. He's a free agent at the end of the year. I wouldn't be shocked if he ran back to Boston if he gets dealt anywhere.

Adding Lester would be great, and I have also seen the speculation regarding the Jays interest in Lester. However I must say that the likelihood of this happening is zero. I think AA made his last move by adding Valencia.

Don't really care if the Jays land Lester (I'd understand it, but not be overly excited). I'm just scared of the Mariners or O's landing him and making it substantially harder to make the playoffs for Toronto.

I would think the fact that Boston seems so confident that they can bring Lester back will hurt what they get as teams know they have a limited chance of retaining him. Would love to see the Jays get him but not for Sanchez and dear god not for Stroman
