I think Tkachuk is the guy to get that going.

I get what you're saying but I don't think we can afford to go into next season hoping for improvements like this one.

I'm not sure that the strategy for improving our bottom 6 is to put our 2nd or 3rd best forward there...
Backlund's line should be the third line. Plus he carries that line by himself.

Yeah, I don't know about that. I think it seems like that because both Pittsburgh and Washington have two #1 centres, but beyond these two teams I am not sure the same claim can be made for many other past winners.

I don't agree either, but all of the contenders have a solid 2.

In the Pacific:
Kopi/Carter
Thornton/Pavelski
Getzlaf/Kesler

Party foul. They were talking cup winners.

Kesler has never won anything. Please edit your post and feel shame.

I hate the guy as much as anyone. But you can't deny that he's a hell of a #2 center.

Have you seen his contract?

It's 2018 and moving forward I would absolutely dispute that.

Probably Kuznetzov- Backstrom

Crosby-Malkin

Kopitar-Carter

Krejci-Bergeron

And the Red Wings kept them on the same line for the majority, but Zetterberg and Datsyuk.

Could easily make the case that every team in the last decade, except Chicago, had two first line centers.

I'm not talking cap or going forward. I'm saying the last 5 years we have faced these tandems and lost.

Of course they do, and this remains an area of need for the Flames that will need to be addressed by way of a trade, or internally.

In response to people talking about cup winning tandems at Centre.

When we lost to the Ducks in the playoffs we were nowhere near a serious contender with so many young players exiting a rebuild.

I'm not sure what point you're making.

I thought my point was pretty clear. The three contenders in the Pacific have a solid two centers. The Flames don't.

I'm not sure I view LA or Anaheim as serious contenders moving forward, and as things currently sit now I think both could be on the decline. Which makes it all the more relevant that Kesler in particular is an albatross moving forward.

What would it take to get Gallagher out of MTL?
He shoots right and a pain in the ass to play against.

A line of Tkachuk - Bennett - Gallagher would be a nightmare for the opposition.
(I know Bennett is playing LW for now)

You might want to look into past and present tense, because I don't think your point is clear at all.

I wish Skinner was a RH shot.

Feels like Carolina is going to sell low on him and a 26 year old 30 goal 50 point threat that plays with some speed would be nice.

Although with only 1 year left to UFA it wouldn't be ideal either.

Not for long. Most if not all but Pavelski are closer to 35 and soon to be on the downside of their carreers. But agree all have been very good players.
