yeah I bet you this won't happen...you really gonna blame a coach that gets 90+ points out of this roster

Speaking as a 6'6" 235lb guy I take offense to that! Fudging midgets.

because Zary is injured and the Flames have 20M in cap space...this is a pretty stripped down roster at the moment.

Nah, seems you're picking up the echoes you like. Could it be possible I hate the players current utilization, and I'm aware if we keep the player he will continue to play higher up in the lineup than he should?

In other words, you are complaining about Backlund because you believe Huska is stupid. And therefore you want Backlund off the team entirely.
This does not make sense.

Huska doesn't rage, but he's certainly not emotionless on the bench.

It's what Brad Pitt did to Pena to make sure the manager played Chris Pratt in Moneyball.

Except in real life Pena was sent to the minors and then traded later.
Hell, Moneyball also ignored the fact that Tejada, Chavez, Zito, Mulder and Hudson were on that team.

Is it?
What center in the organization deserves more ice time than Backlund?

Flames ice time since the trade for Frost:
5v5:
- Kadri - 15:30
- Frost - 13:05
- Backlund - 12:58
PP:
-Kadri - 3:27
-Frost - 3:11
-Backlund - 1:30
PK:
- Backlund - 2:19
- Kadri - 0:03
- Frost - 0:00
So once again...what center in the organization is Backlund taking important ice time away from. Both Frost and Kadri already get more 5V5 and more PP time than Backlund does.

Zary presumably, but he’s been injured a lot and is terrible at faceoffs, so lots of work to do before he’s deserving of Backlund’s spot.

The jury is out on him as a centre at all.
And I ask again - who is checking the top lines on the other team? Frost?

Oh I agree. There’s nobody who has actually earned that spot and nobody who has proven they can actually play that role of shoring up center against the best of the competition.
When you look at QoC of players listed as C or C/W, Backlund and Coleman consistently play against the toughest competition, often in the defensive zone, and both players relative Corsi is high. The next best four, in order, are Huberdeau, Kadri, Pospisil, and Zary, all positive, but all primarily given offensive zone assignments. Frost is good at faceoffs but has struggled even with primarily offensive zone assignments, because he’s not a defensive forward.
In terms of FO% for actual centers (guys who take more than one faceoff per game or two), it goes Frost, Backlund, Rooney, Kadri. Pospisil and Zary have both been tried at center and haven’t been good (especially at faceoffs, well below those guys). Rooney is OK at faceoffs but bad otherwise.
Basically, there’s nobody better than Backlund at what Backlund does and the role he occupies and nobody who has shown they even might be better any time soon. The next best option (defensively responsible, limits chances against while producing chances) is Pospisil, who is terrible at faceoffs, and then Zary, who is even worse.
