This was the first year where we've had an insider group, it's changed the complexion of discussion. Could be fun if you have a job where you can browse CP quite often.
I find as someone without much free time to follow though it was really tough this year. I appreciate CP for being able to jump on and get caught up on Flames and NHL news. This deadline it was just insane amounts of guessing trades and player valuation, and guessing gifs and stuff.
Maybe I'm getting older, but I just couldn't get through it all, it's overwhelming if you're short on time.
Just out of curiosity what did the insider group break? All I saw from reading over the last few weeks were gifs and nothing really transpired after and then that one poster dissentowner said a trade was being held up for another team to take on some cap and when trade was released minutes later no 3rd team was involved. Is there a good track record with them being insiders?

There's a lot more but I'm not in the habit of keeping score, but here's some recent ones off the top of my head;
Sec had NJ inquiring about Markstrom long before any media. Also said something big was going to happen in NJ about an hour before the Ruff firing was announced
Dissntowner had Vegas inquiring about Hanifin before anyone
I know some people don’t like flying, but I want stay awake, looking outside, having free (sic) drinks, watching hours and hours of movies.
I mostly want it for long overnight flights so I can be rested and awake when I land. I’ve had one glorious long flight in my life where I fell asleep after dinner and woke up when they were serving breakfast. Normally I really don’t sleep much on a plane.
Two of my favorite days of the year actually. Spring and autumn time changes, love both of them. Which is kind of weird, I’m generally a fairly pessimistic person.
Not that it exists. I've made Peace with that long, long ago.
The complaining about it. So now I'm going to complain about the complaining.
I don't even notice Daylight Savings Time.
Every piece of equipment that I own that tells time adjust automatically. My morning alarm clock? No problem. Phone? Hah! Of course! Computer? Are you kidding me with this? My fitbit watch? Of course. Even my Car adjusts for it.
What is the big deal? Its an hour.
I cant say that I like Daylight Savings Time. I cant say that I dislike it.
The lact of empathy from people who aren't affected by DST grinda my gears. Be happy about it and let us bitch.
Edit: I'm extra pissy because I had to leave Dune in IMAX after 30 minutes because the seat was killing me.

DST is good, but this time change is just dumb. We changed for a few months for no discernible benefit. This should be the last one and everything would be fine.

How about we don’t bother with this one and stay on the vastly superior time zone.

We all live too long these days anyway. Give me long evenings and some more afternoon sun in the dead of winter and I'll gladly clock out a few years early.
People in China manage to live with just one time zone for the entire country. I am sure we can manage to eliminate DST.
If you look at a time zone map and compare it to a population density map of China, you will see that the vast majority of China's population lives in either the correct geographic time zone or one hour either side of their correct geographic time zone. Being out of sync by an hour is generally not problematic (which is why we can do DST in the first place).
The regions that are 2+ hours out of sync are lower population areas that don't have a lot of political power in China.
It's my understanding that in the western parts of the country, the locals generally live their lives according to the local daylight hours and only those who work in government related fields actually follow the national time (I don't know if that's true, but it's what I've seen mentioned when this topic has come up before).
That already happens a lot in North America too, where people in the west will work an earlier schedule because they have to interact with Eastern time zone co-workers. I've known many people who work 7-3 or even 6-2 in Calgary to sync up with a 9-5 or 8-4 schedule of co--workers in Toronto or Ottawa.

There are very real, measurable effects from changing the time twice per year that are negative. I won't bother going into them it's just been discussed in length and it's widely available go ahead and Google it. The idea that people are put off by complaining about a real problem it's just so ridiculous to me. You don't notice the time change? Good for you. Most do and there's a load of knock in effects from it

For me the earlier light in the winter makes winter so much more tolerable. If we quit switching I’d probably adjust my work hours to compensate.
The problem is there is no good time zone to make up for 8hrs of daylight.

Right, we have low sunlight in the winter. Moving it around really doesn't help much, but there are significant and observable negative effects to the switch. Just leave it alone.
