Very underwhelming first half. Lots of possession, very little threat from open play, which has been an issue all season. Need a much better second half, wouldn’t be surprised to see Trafford start.

York vs Pacific today.

hard not to cheer for York, they could use some success.

Definitely; I'm cheering for York here, if only for fresh blood in the race which always seems to end up being between Pacific, Forge and Cavalry haha.

Apparently MLS wants to go to a winter schedule, which seems mind boggling given the number of teams with winter climates that would struggle to schedule games in winter months.

Time to fire up the Canadian MLS clubs to CPL rumour. Not that I think for a second that would happen....

They've talked about this insanity before. I don't understand how Toronto and Montreal could continue to operate. Even if they move to artificial turf, this is going to tank attendance. I assume it wouldn't be great for TV viewership either going up against the NHL for even more of the year, but I have no clue.

Also, good luck attracting players. It will be miserable and full of injuries for them.

Only way this works long-term in Canada is a) we get serious about large indoor stadiums (hint: not happening), or b) climate change makes Canada the next tropical destination.

Imagine a super-charged CPL though with Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver in it, that would be fun... heck, if we end up absorbing the Turks and Caicos too, that's be an interesting location for a CPL franchise. The possibilities are endless lol!

York is going to prevail in the battle of best kits in the league and advance to the next round of the playoffs

York win 2-0. I think I favour them over Ottawa given how poor Ottawa have played in the second half of the season.

That first half last night was dreadful. I think the teams a combine XG of 0.15. York were definitely better in the second half. I think the Ottawa-York game will be a spicy one as there seems to be genuine anger from York over the comments made by Carlos Gonzalez about York being the easiest team to play in the playoffs.

On a side note, I'm happy to see Elijah Adekugbe stay healthy this season and cement his starting place. I thought he was quite good last night.

I appreciate this analogy....

Quote:
“We’ve ignored the noise on what we haven’t done previous,” Cavalry GM/head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. declared ahead of Sunday’s visit to play first-place Forge in the CPL’s 1-2 game at Hamilton’s Tim Hortons Field (2 p.m., OneSoccer, OneSoccer.ca).

“It’s like when you talk to your wife about your ex-girlfriends,” the Cavs sideline boss continued. “Sometimes you’ve got to stop talking about your ex-girlfriends because you’re with your wife now.

I like the attitude from Tommy and the group, confident and looking ahead rather than behind. I do think it’s a legacy defining game for a few of them. You either win it this year or are forever known as the group who couldn’t win the big games, who couldn’t raise their level. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that!
Just please Tommy, please go there to win. Not draw. That’s been your fatal flaw for the last 5 years whenever they go to Hamilton

The league did a promotional video for tomorrows game, and it's basically 90 seconds of clips of Forge beating Cavalry in the playoffs with OneSoccer soundbites praising Forge finishing with the words "will it be different this time?"

Tells you all you need to know about the game.
