Do you not see how electing bigots here is a problem? Do you really not understand how your vote supporting the "non-bigot" (doubtful) within your riding are in fact also supporting the reality of more bigots filling important government roles?

She ran a campaign where she lost seats and is easily the least likable premier I can recall among a huge portion of the voting populace. This is a province that for 50 years has overwhelmingly elected conservatives. If this is anything but a hollow victory I would be shocked.
This province is being led by rural Alberta and if you have ever spent time in rural Alberta you would realize why that isn't a good thing.

Can you expand on this? I love my home town. We have a great golf course built primarily by the community volunteers, we have an amazing arena built by the farmers, on land that was donated by a farmer. People who are able to help themselves, their community and get things done for the great good. Community clubs, Ag Societies, 4H groups: All cornerstones of rural Alberta that make it great. Knowing and assisting your neighbors, looking out for them and working together with them, much of this is lost in urban centers. These examples are just the tip of the ice berg.

She is awful I agree, but got news for you our PM has been acting like that for 8+ years now. If Canada is somehow surviving I’m sure Alberta will manage.

Well, that's definitely glass half full. Weakest majority government ever in AB.
I think NDP supporters aren't unhappy that the NDP lost an election (that's happened all but one time) so much as horrified about the support someone like Smith got and the direction she will go for a full term.

The greatest irony of Alberta, is all of these things you listed that make rural Alberta great, are socialist and communist ideals. A group of people working together toward common goals and helping each other along the way.
But when it comes to voting, they vote for parties that are against all of this and whose focus is on profit over people and the individual over the collective.

People with disabilities are very scared, homelessness is now a much more real threat. The Kenney government tried to mess with AISH and hurt a lot of vulnerable people, how are they supposed to not fear an even more right win government?

Also, not all healthcare see the NDP as the only option for fixing the system, I know many nurses who voted UCP. Issues are not black and white like we all believe they are sometimes.

wow, that is the exact opposite I am hearing from my friends that are paramedics

Conservative supporters - Duruss has a very valid point. Please ask yourselves how a UCP government that has not been friendly to this demographic is supposed to address this? These are real Albertans with real, immediate concerns.

Agree with all of what you state and have spent plenty of time in rural Alberta.
I think that rural people, however, really need to do some soul searching when it comes to their unbridled racism, sexism, views on social issues, however. It's generally pretty disgusting.

I published a national paramedic journal for 30 years. I’m not sure who you’re hearing this from. Maybe a handful of urban paramedics? Rural paramedics are totally screwed…many have left the profession. Many urban paramedics I know have left the profession as well.
