Ya I don’t get it. What’s one soccer got to do with it? I know lots of people who cheer for multiple countries.

What Canada should do is be the Country to throw #### into the wind.
Get the 'One Love' Captain's armband.
"Thats a yellow!"
So what?
People want Canada to take a stand and be a leader? Guess what, now is their chance.

I cheer for a lot of countries, I really only actively cheer against a handful.
For the most part I just want good matches.

My face is a bum!

Despite wanting nothing more than to watch Canada get trounced in a World Cup game for the last 3+ decades, with the gravy on top being if they managed to pot a goal... the post-run letdown is real after 3 years of buildup. Blah. Feels a bit like June 7, 2004.

TSN couldn't care less about the national team. Only showed games before because the CSA paid them to do so. They jump on now when Canada unexpectedly qualifies and jump off before they even finish the tournament.
We need broadcasters who are invested in the game in this country at all times, not just when it's the sexy thing to do. As much as I gripe about their coverage, OneSoccer has done that. They'll be around in March for Nations League when most people have forgotten about the national team.

You know....obviously hindsight is 20/20 but....in the light of Belgium's loss to Morocco...that Davies penalty...it looms large.

i thought it was basically a the skycam going over Canada's huddle after the Belgium loss on the the field that caught 'Eff Croatia' comment?
Essentially it was meant privately, but when the press caught hold of it they asked Herdman in the PC and he didn't take it back.
He said it. He owned it. But it was meant to fire up his players in a private moment.
Croatia gloating about it is pretty small

You live in a strange, wonderful fantasyland. Sports media is almost exclusively a 'what have you done for me lately' industry.
Unless you're the Leafs, Oilers or Habs.
Canada is done and there is weeks of this tournament left, doing whatever you can to still keep viewers engaged in soccer in Canada is still a benefit and they've gotta do what they've gotta do.

I dont get this.
If someone taunted me and I pretty much just spiked the ball in their face I think its totally natural to throw it back at them.
Herdman said it. Herdman owned it. What Croatia do is up to them, but if an opponent taunts you like that and when game time comes you dummy them...its totally acceptable to throw that back in their face.

OneSoccer is essentially no coverage. You know what the CPL needs to really grow exponentially? Either TSN/Sportsnet/CBC to play the games every week. Literally no one is paying for OneSoccer aside from a hardcore fans.
And yeah, of course they’re off the bandwagon…there is no bandwagon. Canada gets one more game and they’re headed home. How could a broadcaster not look at other countries and try to make sure people are interested in watching the final three weeks of the tournament?

Glad that Germany could tie it up and salvage a point. It was shaping up to be an extremely rough weekend. It is still a very rough weekend, but at least have something to look forward to.

A few interesting must wins shaping up next week
Senegal must beat Ecuador
USA must beat Iran
Denmark must beat Australia
Belgium must beat Croatia
First 3 matches the must win team is favorite, Belgium has no chance.

Ahh....Belgium.
Quote:
Police had to seal off parts of the center of Brussels, deploy water cannons and fire tear gas to disperse crowds following violence during and after Morocco's 2-0 upset win over Belgium at the World Cup.
Dozens of rioters overturned and torched a car, set electric scooters on fire and pelted cars with bricks.

"Damn these electric scooters and their assistance to Morocco to defeat mighty Belgium!!"

Sounds like some unrest is the Belgian room also. I don’t know the exact quotes, but De Bruyne said they were too old to win a World Cup yesterday. Then, after the loss today Jan Vertonghen said something like “are we too old to attack?”
