Ugh.

I really like Klein and think he’s been getting better in that spot, and think him and Boomer are getting more chemistry.

Haven’t liked Will with Boomer at all in the past, and hate his interruptions and style.

Get that the probably want Klein to add some more levity to the afternoon show and maybe Will for somebody a bit more serious in the morning but don’t like this move at all.

What a baffling decision.

I can't even stand Nault in small spurts and typically turn the show off when he's sitting in for whatever reason...so having him there full time will keep me away from the show for good.

Going to have to find something else to listen to in the mornings now. Is there another market's show that's similar content? (dick and fart jokes that is)

I recommend the Morning Skate on SXM NHL Network. Not so much about the bathroom humor but good hockey talk most days.

Pat basically saying the FAN in Calgary has among the smallest budgets in the nation for sports radio stations and run incredibly lean.

Nault is finally getting benefits according to Pat. Sounds like a brutal job so no wonder they lack true talent.

Also I would theorize that Krahn is likely getting the morning slot so they can have the Nault/Krahn feud more often.

I know some of you dont like him on the air, but Will is a good dude. Happy for him.

I will miss Klien's goofyness in the morning. Really liked what he brought.

Yeah that's why I'm never overly critical of the jobs these guys do. Largely the station does the best it can with the resources it has.

I would like QR770 to rebrand as a TSN station which would force Sportsnet to up their game.

I believe that this is the last season that FAN has the rights to broadcast Flames games, unless another extension was reached that I'm not aware of.

If they are really not putting any money into a region that is this hockey crazy, I could see TSN making a play for the rights.

I really don't understand Rogers overall game plan with any of their sports entities. They buy in, and then run a skeleton crew on everything. We are seeing it here at the radio station, but you can ask AlpineOracle about how they treat their big market enterprises as well.

Thing is - why do they need to put money in? Would their viewership go up? I think not.

Would they? They started the Edmonton channel and IIRC didn't make a strong push for their radio rights.

Now I very rarely listen. The morning show sucks, was 100x better when it was Boomer, Warrener and Pinder. Show got slightly worse when Pinder left. and now this year its un-listenable with Krahn or Commodore. The afternoon show has never been great but its gone downhill the past couple years as well.

Buying rights to on air product is usually about timing. It's a little unusual that Rogers is going into the final season without an extension in place. TSN must think that they could do a better job in this city, and gaining the rights to the Flames is a huge jumping off point. It would be gross negligence on Bell's part, if they haven't inquired with the NHL whether they were going to let the rights lapse, and go to auction.

The worst part of the morning show is and always be boomer...

He has ZERO intelligent insight on sports, is a casual fan at best. He wants to be a morning show host on a music station, not sports. The only way the morning show could get any worse is if Derek Wills drops in.

The best part of the show is the guest-callers.

The afternoon show has improved significantly when Pinder replaces Kerr who was truly unlistenable. I could stand Pat/Kerr but realized it was just Kerr as I have come around on Pat since he has been paired with Pinder

It seems like Boomer, Pat, and Pinder would have a lot of leverage in negotiations, since they they bring the listeners.

They all bring completely different perspectives and personalities, which I like.
I'll still listen here and there, as long as these guys are on the fan 960.

I don't mind Krahn and Commodore, but they seem to get a little repetitive pretty quickly. Especially Krahn. I thought Klein was the best of the young guys, but even he was always a little awkward.

Sorry, I was confusing the comment - I thought it was about TV.

But radio hockey - I will listen to it notwithstanding quality, because I want to hear the game.

As for their regular shows, they don't need rights to cover hockey in this region. It's not like other stations can't send reporters to games or have a sports talk show. TSN could have a show and I'm sure the Flames would supply some content - coach access, etc. Rogers as a rights holder just has the right to broadcast hockey games, plus they have a deal to use the PBP guys etc for shows.

I guess i didn't mind Kerr when he was on, but the guy really needs to clear is throat before he speaks into the mic. For some reason, it really annoyed me lol. Like the guy would be talking and giving his opinions, and all I could think of while listening to him was, clear your throat man!
