the "take your base" approach was a poor idea with Merrit form the opening pitch. Every report I read on this guy said he will throw you strikes. jays needed to be aggressive from the get go and they havn't been.

I have been extremely disappointed with the whole offensive strategy by the jays this series.
JD is the only who's shortening his swing up. Dropping balls in the gaps like a champ.

They did it to the Sox, too. At some point you need to give credit to your opponent.

Yep, he is a true all-around ball player. Just a stud and so happy to have him. Will be interesting this off season. If the Jays decide not to bring back both EE and Bautista, that is a ton of money to sign 1 or more players that are willing to hit singles and play baseball the way it is meant to be played.

They have 1 hit. But yeah pretty much 12 up 12 down because of the DP.

This is not a knuckleball pitcher. It's simply bad hitting. That's really all I have to say. The guy may be painting corners but with little movement there is NO excuse for this.

All series they have been too aggressive and have been caught chasing off speed pitches.

Finally changed the approach a bit yesterday and it paid off.

Now they have a guy out their throwing soft stuff for strikes with some of it on the plate and some in great locations but they are watching called strikes all game since they are trying to be patient.

Gonna have to beat the pen to get through this. Pretty much exactly the scenario we wanted to avoid.

Martin got lucky there. Both guys got caught up. Indians got exactly what I thought they would from Merit. Jays need a miracle

Francona doesn't want the hitters to get a second/third look at him. Its a genius Manager move as long as your bullpen is good enough.

Going to the pen is what the Jays might need to get the bats going

Yeah you're right probably not classified as 12 up 12 down because of the hit. Let's get after this pitcher!

Please don't try and hit a homer here and hit a DP. An RBI single works just fine.

Why wasn't Martin going full speed on that bloop single. Should have been easily able to leg it into a double.
