It's kinda funny. Some Oilers fans sign up for CP just as a response to this thread and it's previous incarnations. The irony is that posters like you and posts like this, both here and elsewhere (and IRL) is why this thread exists in the first place.

The Oilers are bad. They are historically bad. Like super-duper Guinness Book of Records bad. They've probably had the worst 10 years of any professional sports franchise in North America, with the possible exception of expansion teams.

Yet, this season the Oilers have a decent record after 10 (TEN!) games and the Oiler fan hubris comes out full-throttled. The primary reason for their decent start is because they unintentionally sucked for so long, and mismanaged their players for so long, and did almost everything wrong...that they won a lottery and got to add a great player. It wasn't through careful planning for the future. It wasn't through great trades or acquisitions. It was dumb luck. They still seem to screw up everything they touch but it's been masked under the bandaid of McDavid. You think that the Flames losing to the Ducks is an example of futility? Under "futility" the thesaurus lists: ineffectiveness, frivoulousness, worthlessness, senselessness, Oilers. That's what happens when you try so hard and yet still suck so bad that nobody has ever tweeted during an Oilers playoff game.

And so, after 10 decent games we get the appearance of AlbertaOiler72 and others of his/her ilk completely ignoring the last 10 years and making it sound like not only are the Oilers a lock for a playoff spot but they're a dynasty in the making. AFTER 10 GAMES!

This is why people hate Oilers fans.
It's not just because of your greasy mullet.
It's not just because of your sweat pants with dress shoes.
It's not just because you think shopping carts are a legitimate form of transportation.
It's not because lighting garbage on fire is one of top recreational activities for Oilers fans, right behind tossing jerseys and giving your money away to billionaires.
And it's certainly not because the Oilers won a few games at the start of the season.

It's because you have the nerve to actually try to claim that the Oilers are somehow better than, well, any other team. Perhaps self-awareness classes should be offered along with Oilers season-tickets. Or are you just a tier-two fan?

The level of ineptitude and no goodness will be funny for some time, even if the oilers turn it around. You may do your best to forget the Lowe presser, Pronger leaving, Smyth crying, Yakupov busting, recurring draft party excitment, Hall pouting, Eakins making the players roll over like dogs, and general failure. Nobody is shocked, it was inevitable, and it's only going to get much, much worse if the Oilers are actually for real.

But no, this is a Flames forum, we most certainly don't have to take it here.

It's bad enough around here these days with Flames fans melting down everywhere you look, I don't want to come here (to a FLAMES forum) and have to read smug self satisfying posts from the fan base of a team who just spent 10 years setting records being terrible like it's all just been washed away with a handful of games.
