That's a great question and I'm actually not 100% sure, because I had both day and night session tickets, so I was at Flushing the entire day.
However, check out this link. It should answer your question. It's about half way down.

Why is attendance at the Citi Open in Washington always so embarrassingly awful? There might be 200 people at stadium court right now. and i remember from last year it didn't get much better as the week wore on.

The women's DC event is a 250 event so most of the biggest players are in the Stanford event which is a 500 event (Genie was going to play DC but pulled out with an injury). The Men's draw never seems to do well as most of the top players take it off, presumably because they'll go back to back with Canada and Cincinnatti.

no elite names, plus the complete absence of top American stars on the circuit. it's such a long sad drought that Roddick and Fish tried to sign up for US Open doubles, but got denied cause Roddick didn't make the cut for the 3 months in advance drug testing, having been retired for the past year and a half.
meanwhile, the hype for Rogers cup couldn't be hypier with our home grown kids taking over the whole world. they won't have any issues filling the seats in Montreal and TO, that's for sure.

It's definitely an oddly timed event. Even so, I was looking at that and thinking that Calgary or Vancouver could probably outdraw Washington pretty easily with the same field - even if Raonic took it off. Presuming we had facilities, of course.

Well, Washington's attendance won't be helped by Querry flaming out to Nishikori, and hopefully Raonic beating Sock.

Milos did indeed take out Sock, but it took two tie-breakers.

Li Na has withdrawn from both Rogers Cup and US Open with a knee injury.

Milos beats old man Hewitt in two tiebreaks and Pospisil upsets Berdych so both in the quarters.

With Pospisil looking like he's back in form, this could be a very impressive hard court season for both our men.

One has to imagine that going 10-0 in doubles has filled Pospisil with a ton of confidence that he's carrying over into this week's singles draw. Sock looked pretty good against Raonic as well, just a little overmatched (barely) though.

I'm also planning on going this year. Any one know how I can figure out when Novak is initially playing or what days he is expected to based on his bracket. My buddy is Serbian so obviously we will have to go on one of those days.
Also, with the AMEX perks, are they just at the various promo booths?

You can to go to the AMEX tent to get them: play-by-play ear radio, swag, snacks, food discounts and some discounts at the merchandise store. It's also a nice place to cool off if the temps are ridiculous that day.

Raonic through to the semis. Finally managed to win a set without needing a tiebreak too.
