Hey guys! Last blog post of the week, a rookie report on Ben Hanowski, eat it up!
This one is a little more editorialized, looking for feedback, let me know!
I really liked your lead talking about how all the focus is on the flashier, higher-profile Granlund while Hanowski is cruising along under the radar a bit.
I'm certainly guilty of that myself haha.

Torie Peterson (Flames digital media producer) didn't like some members of the media downplaying the Heat's success this week, so she dug up some numbers...

Fun fact about the #AHL: 813 of 930 #NHL players last season were AHL alumni. That's 87.4% of the league.

21 of 30 #NHL teams last season were led in points by an #AHL graduate. 27 out of 30 teams were led in wins (goalie) by an AHL graduate.

Those #'s completely refute any argument that the #AHL doesn't have much impact on the #NHL, which is something I've heard recently.

I felt like he just wasn't sure exactly what we have down there yet... that's how it sounded to me anyway.
Yeah, well hopefully he figures it out before he starts entertaining trades and such.
I for one was happy with the work Feaster and co. had done to build a strong, prospect driven AHL club and will be pissed if any hidden gems slip through the cracks because of a (IMO) questionable and sudden regime change.

Yes. Hopefully he doesn't make any changes on his own. Bring in a new staff and have them evaluate the talent. For once it would be nice if this Heat team could stay more or less together for a season. They are deep enough to sustain some injury call-ups, but this could be real head-start to the rebuild if the Heat stay where they are this year (on top of the AHL, that is).

Whatever the exact words were.. the ahl team is doing well but it doesnt really mean anything, we don't have any top prospects or something to that effect.

Saying he wasn't sure how many top prospects we have and saying we don't have any are two completely different statements that mean two completely different things.

Does anyone have the exact quote? I am probably over playing it but you might be under playing it as well..

I don't know his exact words, but I'm sure he said a couple months ago something to the effect that there is help on the way. I think he'd said that when he was with the Ducks that he'd seen the Heat play and came to that conclusion. I'll check 960's audio to see for sure. If they still have it.
