RE: Brodie for Kadri - you sure you want a guy who was suspended in the playoffs both this year and last year?
Some may say it shows heart. I say it shows he's an idiot.
Kadri could have been the difference in that series --- ooops! suspended again
I'd stay away.

I've never forgotten or forgiven Kadri for the throat slash motion against Gio. Still think he's a bouchedag and certainly would not take kindly to him on the team.

Would rather do Brodie for Kapanen. Not that the Leafs would want to.

Unless Dubas is a complete moron (jury is out I suppose) why would they walk away from Gardiner at this point just to get Western Conference Gardiner?

I like Brodie for Kadri. Kadri has a good contract that will expire as he hits his 30s. We could use that, Bertuzzi worked out for us back in the day. Gardiner is not a comparable to Brodie, if Gardiner played for Calgary, he would never play with Gio, he would be on the 5-6 pair.

Me and my vast knowledge and experience as a GM came up with this:
Frolik + 3rd for Zucker
Brodie for Gallagher
Neal + Stone for Nylander
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuck (~8mil) - Backlund - Nylander
Zucker - Jankowski - Gallagher
Bennett - Ryan - Czarnik
Mangiapane - Dube
Giordano - Andersson
Hanifin - Hamonic
Valimaki - Yelesin
Fantenberg
Rittch (~2.5)
Gillies

Not that the Leafs could take back that much salary, I think you forgot to include the value for the Leafs. Two cap dumps for a top 6 guy.
Don't hate the other trades though.

I like Kadris game most of the time, but I agree he makes waaaaaay too many boneheaded plays. He’s a liability.
Really like the idea of Kapanen.

The biggest obstacle (I believe) of moving Brodie to Toronto for Kadri is the fact that Brodie makes more and they are in cap trouble.
Maybe if they decide to let Gardiner go, make the trade, and replace Kadri with a cheaper player then they could save some money, but it certainly doesn’t make them better.

The other problem is Kadri and Brodie aren't close to the same value in terms of their on ice contributions.
Kadri is a 2x 30 goal scorer.

Frolik + 3rd for Zucker Not sure why the Wild make this trade. I would think that they would much rather have Zucker especially with them only getting a 3rd back.
Brodie for Gallagher I highly doubt Montreal even considers this. One year of Brodie is not worth that.
Neal + Stone for Nylander I unfortunately don't even know where to start here. So Flames dump a boat load of salary to a team that has no room for salary. We give up one guy who was healthy scratched and one that didn't play this year for a top 6 forward.
If Gillies is our backup next year then the Flames are going to have a realllyyy long year.

No it doesn't. Makes no sense from a Leafs perspective.
Kadri is on a very team friendly deal with term. For a team that's about to have three players with contracts over $10 million, his contract is extremely valuable. No chance they give that up for one year of TJ Brodie.
The Leafs may be pissed at Kadri right now, but they're not stupid.

I did a thing on capfriendly.
First pass, but I think all outside of the last trade seem pretty good in terms of "fairness" may as well let CP pick it apart
To MIN:
Frolík, Michael
Foo, Spencer
2019 4th round pick (NYI)
To CGY:
Zucker
To STL:
Kylington, Oliver
2020 5th round pick (CGY)
To CGY:
Edmundson, Joel [RFA Rights]
2020 4th round pick (STL)
To CGY:
Kadri, Nazem
Sparks, Garret
To TOR:
Brodie, TJ
Jankowski, Mark
To CGY:
2019 3rd round pick (VGK)
2019 5th round pick (MIN)
To VGK:
Stone, Michael
2020 4th round pick (STL)
To CGY:
Larkin, Dylan
2019 2nd round pick (SJS)
To DET:
Monahan, Sean
Czarnik, Austin
Gillies, Jon
2019 1st round pick (CGY)
2020 2nd round pick (CGY)
(Larken is my long shot, not even rumored to be available but he's the center I'd want that fits the age demographic of the flames)

Zucker was bringing in Calgary's first at the deadline.
Neal and Stone combined have negative trade value, to a huge degree. PLus Toronto wants to save cap space, not take on more. You could add 2 first round picks and they'd pass.

I like most of these proposals. I think the Larkin one is a bit far-fetched, only because he's probably the most untouchable player on the Wings.
Also probably need to add a bit to the Zucker deal. Maybe a prospect like Gawdin or Phillips instead of Foo and the 4th.
Otherwise adding Zucker, Kadri, Edmondson and Sparks for what we give up would be a success, imo.
