I'm not sure if this has already been covered, but I'm wondering if there's a way to unsync an iPhone from a computer, and sync it to another? Better yet, I'd rather not have it synced to any computer. Basically, my girlfriend has an iPhone which was initially setup using a desktop computer, but now it seems that's the only computer that she can add any music from. If I try to click the setting to 'manually edit music', it says I have to erase the iPhone and resync it to our laptop, which is the preferred computer I'd like to have it synced to, if it has to be synced at all.

Is there any way to change the settings so I can plug in this iPhone to any computer and be able to add music?

Yes, there is. Apple in their infinite wisdom has determined that people only need to manage the content on their ipods and iphones with one computer. Why they did this I don't understand, but there is a way around it. Essentially you need to locate 2 files on your computer, throw them on a flash drive or email them to yourself, and then dump them into the same folder on the 2nd computer. This will allow you to play the files on your ipod/iphone on the second computer and add or remove files from the second computer as well.

Here is the video to show you how (for simple syncing, you'll only need the first 2 minutes):

Concessions to the record labels....

If it was something Apple wanted, they wouldn't have made it so brain dead easy to circumnavigate. At least they are trying in the eyes of the labels.

Does anyone know of a way to pull your videos off your iPod?

My comp crashed, and I had the Dark Night through iTunes - I can't re-download it, so I need to pull it off my iPhone before I sync it up again... I am using a PC, I know mac users have that easy program, but what about PC users? Oh, and I would prefer to not have to pay for software to do it.

Thanks!

Default Fido’s 2009 roadmap leaked; $99 4GB iPhone 3G?

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/...oadmap-leaked/

Quote:

The most notable slide has to do with a 4GB iPhone 3G. While there is a huge disclaimer that the image isn’t the device itself, the slide depicts a 4GB iPhone model that will run for $99 and come with quad-band EDGE, tri-band HSDPA, a 2 megapixel shooter and, believe it or not, iChat video calling (oh hi, front-facing camera).
Do you guys think this is legit?

Could be, I've heard that rumour around elsewhere too, that they'll actually introduce 2 new models this summer, a 32GB one and a 4GB one.

Okeedokee, what the hell does "slide for emergency" mean? Am I taking a frantic trip to the apple store today? I did a quick google search and it seems it can mean either something is wrong with your unlocked phone or the sim card isn't reading. My phone is neither unlocked or jailbroken, so I assume it's a sim card thing? Anybody else see this screen?

edit: phew. I plugged it into itunes and it immediately re-activated. Nothing to see here!

The rumors are flying now that we are only a few days away from WWDC. I've heard there are 4 different models. 4,8,16,32gig models... 32gigs for me!

A question for all current iPhone owners about there texting.... what kind of plan do you have? It seems stupid that the plans only come with ~100text messages for free... It should be tied in with the data plan. Has me thinking I might jailbreak to get texting over my data connection.

Don't expect to see hardware announcements at WWDC. It'll be all about 3.0 firmware. That said, the rumors I'm hearing are July 17th.. but given the beta version we're on.. I'm not sure if that date will be correct. 3.0 is probably half way through it's beta schedule, and this is clearly not ready for release.

However, if they announce a release date for 3.0 then expect new iPhones at that time too.

I got a value pack for smart phones that has 2500 text messages per month (sent). That with caller ID and voicemail is something like $10 a month.

I noticed rogers decided to start charging for incoming text messaging quietly unless you have a text plan.

The value pack is 15 for the 2500 text, caller ID and Visual voicemail

I must say the other day when I updated iTunes among other things and read the patch notes it said it now supports 3.0 and I got all excited for nothing thinking it was secretly already released.

So for those of us living vicariously through you, is it correct to say the betas are getting worse?

Well.. beta 4 was pretty neat. It seemed pretty stable except for one thing where my boss sent the same e-mail 7 times.

I never experienced problems. But beta 5.. your icons disappear, it releases your view pointer whenever it feels like, so your app crashes if you have anything referencing that view.. The camera controller uses up a leotarded amount of memory.. ugh. It sucks.

How many betas does something like that normally go through?

2.0 had something like 11 betas.
