If by some.miracle the Flames ended up with both Misas I'd never doubt Conroy's actions afterwards. If that meant he backed the Brink's truck up to Marners door to snag him, I'm all for it.

I think trading Andersson in a move for Robertson, is a clear W (assuming you aren't attaching + + + +)
I also don't love the Robertson fit for Calgary, and would prefer he be flipped if it did happen.
...I think it's crazy that Dallas is moving a 25 year old 1.053PPG sniper, but when you're rich in one department it only makes sense to address your weaknesses.

Conroy gets Michael to join Luke, and Henry to join Hunter? That'd be a fun little turn.
Hypothetical. If Calgary could pull off getting the 2OA and drafting Misa, we'd be set with a potential 1st line centre, #1 defenceman, and #1 goalie. We still have two first rounders to come in 2026.
Conroy's interview convinced me the Flames will check in on Marner. If they did get Misa somehow, would this change people's comfort levels with going after an elite winger like Marner (assuming he could be convinced to come, as unlikely as that may be)?
Yes Misa is day 1, but the defence needs a lot of work.
All these moves to get into the top 10 and drafting McQueen would be a disaster. He’s just a more aesthetic Mark Jankowski.
Maybe I'm reading the wrong media, most of what I've seen is "if he didn't have the back injury he'd be in the conversation for #1 overall". Is that wrong? You make it sound like he's trash

The rationale to draft Mark Jankowski was spot on.
If you find big skilled centres who skate well - you take them.
The fact he turned out to be an OK NHLer and nothing more doesn't mean the premise is poor.

A guy who is 6'5 and has good hands and feet says Ryan Getzlaf, to me. That ceiling is mid range 1C in this league. Injury factor is a big risk reward.

I wouldn't go hard after Marner but it would be worth a check.
If we landed a #1C but at the cost of Andersson then the next step would be to shore up the D group by focusing on a top 4 LD.
I think next summer or the one after is when the Flames should really be looking for the UFA winger upgrade... There are some good players on the list for next year but Marner might be better, so maybe it's worth breaking the order of operations.
I'm not super big on McQueen myself but if the Flames ended up trading up to take him I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.
The team has a pretty solid draft record lately and have done a great job at identifying talent. These guys are paid a lot to know more about this sport and these players then I will ever know.
I'm just some guy sitting in his house with a dog sleeping on top of his feet.
I'm very excited to see how this draft shakes out regardless of where the Flames draft/what trades they make. Should be a fun weekend.
