This kind of feels like a so what? I don't understand why this needs to be highlighted in any way. By the Flames or anyone else really.

Because some have implied that the timing of dube needing mental help was convenient instead of legitimate

That's the part of the original statement that stands out to me. If that is indeed true, I don't see what is wrong with the statement.
If it is not true........then yeah, this is a huge problem.
Again, I'm open to any evidence either way. If the Flames are lying I'd really like to know. If they're not, maybe they could have left that part out, but I don't know why they had to if it's true.
|
I just can’t believe at all they didn’t know 100%. Hell I hate conspiracies but I have zero doubt they didn’t know. Zero.
But at the same time, zero doubt Dube has some mental health troubles. Big ones. That burden is a bitch. That you could have stopped it. I’ve been on the wrong end of that burden but with the same question.
Gross thing might be they were covering ass more than doing the right thing. Legally they are good but us populace don’t have a legal standard to box us in.

You are constantly on the defence and it's just a little crazy. While I get the hope that the Flames can do no wrong, just look at the optics. I mean, the Flames CEO's son was involved in the investigation.
Talking with people at work today, and they were disgusted that the Flames made that statement. It's on the news. It's on social media. The Flames are being torn apart.
While I feel more and more that the teams we cheer for should not be a reflection of our personality, I simply hope the team I do cheer for holds itself to the highest standards possible. That does not make me a bad fan or somebody who should just go find some other team to cheer for.
I'm not dragging my team through the mud. They jumped in it themselves.

I agree, the organization did very well in handling the Peters situation. They haven't done anything to make me believe otherwise.
The organization supports its players and coaches, and I doubt they could've thrown Dube under the bus because of what amounted to rumors at the time. As soon as the nature of Dube's leave was known/published, the organization addressed it.

Give them some time to work it out. I’ll be shocked if all 5 players don’t have the contracts terminated soon but it won’t be immediately.
|
They have known this was a possibility for a long time, and have had days since news broke of 5 players asked to surrender that they should have known it was now a strong possibility. Not having this ready to go shows they are either completely incompetent or willfully ignorant to what has been going on.
Tell him you are putting him on unconditional waivers for the purposes of contract termination, stop paying him and let him file a grievance with the union.
What is the worst case scenario, you are forced to pay him out in the end.

That is what he did! Wtf more do you want? Weree they supposed to say that there was some people on the internet guessing Dube was eventually going to be charged so they are granting him a leave of absence? That would be stupid.
People are just looking to start the lynch mob here over something totally unfounded.

I have no idea if the Flames knew anything before the statement or not. But if you truly believe they did, how on earth can you cheer for this team?

They could of made the same non-controversial statement every other team made.
