I do have an honest question though:

How is watching an F1 race live and in person actually fun?

I see the stands up and I've seen videos from people in the stands. You see a bunch of blurry vehicles race by over a few seconds and then nothing while they're at other parts of the track... then you wait to see it all blur by again. What am I missing?
Having been to a few events, my next visit will be a walking ticket so i can walk around the track and experience the event from various locations while following the race on the screen. Cheaper and a better expereince

Vegas is a weird set up - it's probably the least conducive to in-person experience (though other street circuits are similar).

I've only done a full weekend at Montreal and practice at Monaco. For me it's the entire race weekend that's fun:

Friday practice if you can roam around to different corners and get a feel for the whole track, take in the fastest straight, etc

Saturday quali is cool b/c you get to see every car taking the same corner(s) at ten tenths (balls out) - interesting to see just how much faster a fast car feels than the backmarkers, even though it is probably a 0.1 second difference in the time it takes them to cover the distance visible to you.

Race day was my least favourite overall because the grandstand was jam packed compared to the other days. The whole experience was neat, and the first few laps with a tightly packed field was incredible. Wandering the track afterwards was cool too. But the bulk of the race was an uneventful Hamilton romp (ooph - just checked the race results and 3rd place was 40 seconds behind the two Mercs with everyone below 8th lapped)

Mercedes car was an absolute beast in those days, and pretty much unbeatable.

Doh, it’s race weekend and it’s Saturday. Returning the trophy last week must have led my brain to say “it’s over”.

I’ve missed twice not like it matters. For fun:
Verstappen
LeClerc
Perez
Sainz
Norris
Hamilton
Alonso
Piastri
Stroll
Albon

And now I sit down to watch qualies.

I received an email this week that Monaco tickets are now available. The Historique is run this year which is something we might do again should our travel schedule line up. It’s a great event to watch.

My Bottass pick looks to be ass.

Kinda surprised by that, he's usually quick at Yas.

Really hope McLaren can jump Charles and force Max into playing defense.

8 different teams in Q3. I wonder if that's ever happened before? Williams and Alfa Romeo on the outside

Merc getting 2nd in the WCC and Hamilton getting 3rd in the WDC is a testament to their consistency. Ferrari, McLaren and Aston all seemed more likely to win a race but suffered from too many bad results.

Good on Alonso for securing 4th. Poor Leclerc though.

Well that wraps another season of F1! Thanks again to everyone who played...building a decent community of racing fans here!

Congratulations to DoubleK - 2023 SEASON CHAMPION! Great season all year long. Easily the most correctly slotted and tied for 2nd on correct top 10 picks.

Second place this year goes to bizaro86, also a very strong season. Second most correctly slotted and led in correct Top 10.

Third place is Mcree...great first season, only 2pts behind bizaro86.

FurnaceFace would have had the most points this week (25 with 4 slotted and 8 top 10)...but missed his picks Top honours goes to speede5 with 3 slotted and 9/10.

DoubleK and bizaro86...I'll touch base through PM on prizes.
