Even if the standard in the past was to play in empty stadiums, the goal of that was to punish the offending team/FA. In this case UEFA would #### themselves out of a lot of money. So yeah that'll never happen.

Agreed. Incessantly complaining about everything seems to run in the English's blood.

I have no idea what the Germans have to be bitter about. Low set the team up badly, and the team he did set up played like day-old, sunbaked ass.
I'm a huge Germany supporter, but that team was very clearly going nowhere.
I could have done a better job. Its a real shame they didnt can Low a year ago and let Flick run the show.

In a world full of division, hating England in football is one of humanity's great unifiers. We'll all be holding hands and singing Kumbaya in Italian, eating Cannoli and drinking fine Amarone if Italy pulls it off.

So if England wins Sunday, the only team they didn't beat is Scotland!

Double the reason to root for Italy, cause I don't want to endlessly hear that from the Scots.

I usually agree and as a CMNT fan with no external national team affiliation still don't typically pull for England but I think I'd like to see them win this time. Southgate is somebody I have grown to respect a lot tactically and the way he goes about his business. Classy understated guy who has taken way too much criticism for his tactics from a pundits who have won nothing internationally.
Also though Sterling sometimes teeters on the brink, the team lacks a player I really dislike like gazza or Beckham in years past. Love you as a country italy, but would be more fun to watch England win at home as a neutral this go round.
Ps - sterling 100% dove, minimal contact, no way that was a penalty though haha

I'm torn. On the one hand I'm watching the games and genuinely wanting them to win but on the other hand I'm now looking forward to being reminded about it for the next 50 years.
But the level of butthurtery here is something else with resident thread jester outdoing himself.
I mean, we're actually getting ... it's .....a .......conspiracy posts!!

England far deserved it. Far the better team. Yes the penalty was soft but there was clear contact from BOTH defenders. English players are now catching up and on with the rest of the top teams regarding cuteness and going down on contact.
If you're Italian you have no right to comment on the softness of the penalty given that we've been subjected to your theatrics for years now.

He's the only one in that squad that I don't really like. He's got a very dirty, nasty side to him, and is the master of backing into people and flopping.
Having said that hoping he gets a brace on Sunday as I had a punt on him at 50/1 pre Germany for the golden boot.

It's fine that the English look for contact and fall. The way the game is reffed its becoming a necessity. I've given examples in this thread of non calls because players didn't go down. Has anyone here ever seen a penalty for impeding a player who stayed on his feet?
The English just shouldn't bash other countries/foreigners for doing it.

The same small percentage of Italian supporters are no angels either, at club or country level.
Ask the Israelies 5 years ago and virtually any opponent of Lazio in Serie A.
