Completely random thought, but I can’t recall a similar oddity happening. The Kendrick and Tyler features are back to back, and they both have a line about “therapy/opening up”. What a weir coincidence.

Best song on the album for me is FICO, with MTBTTF being great as well.

I can’t believe that the Pharrel features are the worst tracks on the album.

Alfredo 2 from Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist just dropped. I swear Alchemist just keeps getting better with age. The range of his beats from mid 90's to now is unbelievable and how he's been able to evolve with new rappers is impressive. Gibbs kills it too. I think he really shines on the 1 rapper/1 producer albums vs a bunch of beats from whoever.

Any of you nerds still listening to music? Love me a yearly top ten list. Curious what the rest of you liked this year. My list is most of the same artists as usual but with the inclusion of Krit for the first time in years since he released something that wasn't trash

Larry June 2 chainz alchemist - life is beautiful
Larry June - until night comes
Don trip starlito - Step brothers 4 life
Coyote - Yotelandia
Murs - love and rockets 3:16
Jay Worthy - once upon a time 2
Aesop Rock - I heard it's a mess there too
Aesop Rock - Black Hole Superette
Fashawn - Capital
Big KRIT - Dedicated to Cadalee Biarritz

I’m still here! I can’t believe Clipse didn’t even make your top ten. I listed to the Aesop Rock albums you have there, and they were good. I’ll do a top ten tomorrow, or on the weekend, but I have lived some of the DJ Premier albums out recently. Last week was with Nas, and that’s got some great songs and the Reinvention has some great songs as well. I also loved some of the songs put out by Wu Tang (Black Samson the bastard swordsman) and the Redman album was pretty good. Lil Wayne and JID had new albums and both are good, but I love the prior JID so much that I knew I’d be a little let down there.

Aesop Rock is dope…. But I honestly can’t stand his voice and can only listen to one song and then I need something else.

That's why I wonder what the rest of you listen to, there's an interesting variety of opinions here. Regarding the Clipse album not only is it not on my list I thought it was awful, I listened to it once and have never returned to it. Just not for me.

I think he legit has the greatest voice in hip hop and would listen to him read a grocery list so it's wild to me that scroopy hates Aes' voice but I can relate. When people sing Danny Brown's praises I don't get it because I shut him off after six or seven syllables. His voice is like being ear violated regardless of lyrical content.

To be fully honest Black Hole Superette probably shouldn't be on there but I was struggling to find a 10th. I really wanted to include Open Mike Eagle but I'm not a fan of the artistic direction his style has taken. I wanted to like Redman but outside of fan loyantly it was just ok.

I think everyone has different standards for a top 10 as well. Like the Billy Woods album Golliwog is probably objectively a great and top 10 album but it's not my thing and I never revisit it so I don’t include it yknow. If anyone is a DEHH fan a lot of my opinions come down to "does it bump in the whip?" and how often I revisit it.

Preach. If I'm going off my replay/wrapped my most listened to hip hop albums of the year not from this year would be

Del - Both Sides of the Brain (Jaw Gymnastics is a perfect song)
Delton 3030 - self titled (possibly the best album ever made, fight me)
Aesop Rock - ITS (top to bottom perfect)
Dj Quik - Rhythm-Al-Ism (of course)
Madvillain - Madvillainy (easy classic)
Raekwon - Only built 4 Cuban Linx (I'm a middle aged hip hop fan duh)
Mr Lif - I Phantom (where's my backpack?)
Mobb Deep - The Infamous (see Raekwon)
Paul Wall - The People's Champ (They don’t know)
Open Mike Eagle - Component System with the Auti Reverse (less depression fueled than Anime, Trauma, and Divorce)

It's definitely not a popular opinion, but Cuban Linx > Liquid Swords.

I forgot that I thought Del La Soul - Cabin in the Sky was an enjoyable listen. And the recent Papoose EP was dope.

Mine would be:
Marlowe - Marlowe
Marlowe - Marlowe 2
(Those albums are ####ing fire).
Atmosphere …. Most of it.
And recently I’ve been listening to Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon.
