Glad Brad decided to cheap out on Tkachuk for all of his amazing UFA signings. Well done Brad, you played yourself and left this team in the ####

Calgary and Florida had the exact same points in the last 20 games...Flames didn't trend down all season
Pittsburg lost their last two games to Chicago and Columbus...Panthers didn't exactly kick the door down like is being suggested

Not all hernias are equal.
I know a guy with a hernia who hasn’t had the surgery and has been playing with it for years

If you want to discuss injuries we also had Tanev taped together for the majority of the season and had our best transition defenceman outright miss the season.
Injuries happen.
The Panthers are riding a all time goaltending performances with key contributor's contributor's at clutch times. It's not like they are blowing teams out.

lol
Our lineup was not going to suddenly turn into what Florida has going for them. Zero chance especially with Sutter behind the bench.

Flames or not...most teams would be hard to beat with mid .900s goaltending
You also need some luck...post away from being out in 5 games, multiple saves. Tied up game 7 with the goalie pulled after a missed EN.
Hockey is a FINE line

The Panthers has a hot goalie
But they still have most of their major pieces, mainly Barkov and Ekblad and got a major upgrade in Tkachuk for Huberdeau
The Flames lost Johnny, their main piece and the new guys played like ####
They are not the same

Flames also has more wins than Montreal in 2021 when they rode a hot goalie to the finals pulling off a bunch of upsets.
It's ok to admit a not very good team is being carried by a great goaltending performance.

Yeah, this guy is saying he is going to play game 4+ but can't play in the finals next week? Seems odd
Who is he Mike Smith with a delayed injury

Agreed!
And the other thing
PDO doesn’t crater you and it’s not a measure of luck
Good D and goaltending boost sv%
Good offense boosts shooting percentage
Get those and you have a high PDO
By playing well, not by chance

A little but probably not as major as you're making it seem.
First 21 Games:
Florida: 23 Points
Flames: 21 Points
2nd Quarter 20 Games:
Florida: 17 Points
Flames: 25 Points
3rd quarter 20 Games:
Florida: 24 Points
Flames: 21 Points
Final 21 Games:
Florida: 28 points
Flames: 26 points
In the last 20 games of the seasons heading into the Playoffs both teams had 26 points. Really when you look at how "hot" they were coming into the playoffs they were playing at the same pace.

The comments torching the Flames are brutal....
But it's like people forgot that Tkachuk asked out.
Florida still offered the best package, that can't really be debated.
Obviously it goes back to the bridge deal negotiation, and even further back to the Canucks ####ing up their pick.
But rubbing it in the Flames noses for the trade is a little unfair.
Flames first choice was always keeping their star player. He wasn't interested.
I really hope this team comes out with a massive chip on its shoulder next season, from the top down. A lot of guys written off with a lot to prove.
The "cancer" is gone. No more excuses.

NOBODY. And I mean NOBODY saw Bobrovsky putting up a .935 in the playoffs.
That is the biggest reason for the difference in their regular season to playoff play. They had benched Bob for Alex Lyon to start the playoffs and were down 3-1.
Tkachuk put up points in the regular season too, but those goals are more timely now and more important because of Bob holding down the other end of the Fort.
Bob and Markstrom both have matching .907 save percentages over the last three seasons. I would have thought either going crazy with a .935 in the playoffs would have been equally unlikely.
People can scoff all they want but getting hot goaltending to go on a run is not some new phenomenon. Both teams had similar great underlying stats that were cratered a bit by goaltending, and now Florida has a hot goalie an look unbeatable.

Well, there’s a difference between scoring a goal that sends your team to the cup finals and a goal that tied a game late in an early season game

This is all I am saying...his own team benched him so you guys can save the I told you so's. This is something they didn't even see and only put him in when Lyon blew it (after saving them in the reg season)
