I believe we will hit the point where I will not physically fit on these things. Is the answer "tough ####, sorry about your genes?". Because in many other cases that is a far from acceptable answer. But I also understand they can't build things for the edges of the bell curve either.

Do they still accommodate people if they're 350 pounds?
I’ve chatted with a bunch of the former on the Virtual Railfan cams. They usually keep the latter in check. They’re mostly retired dudes who tinker with old cars and stuff. Good people with an intense passion that I respect.
It’s usually younger guys trying to prove something who challenge others in the hobby. They suck.
As a train guy, I agree that there are plenty of James May types who are pleasant company so long as you find the subject matter at least a little bit interesting. Having something to prove isn't necessarily more common among young fans either, personally I've found that rail photographers tend to be more that way than other variants of train enthusiast, but again that's just my experience of it.
Maybe we could ditch the seat in front of that dude and the chick could sit right on his lap?
(that "joke" probably gets made in every forum this pic is posted in)

Yeah, if you want to travel and you're tall you better have deep pockets. I don't fit in economy, so I always have to upgrade. Thankfully, I don't travel too often, but a seat my femur actually fits in is mandatory or I won't go anymore. It's too miserable.
This damn tall disability strikes again.

Been a while since I've flown WJ; is this actually what these swoop seats look like? (I'm guessing no but maybe similar?)
No, that was just at a trade show. I don't think they'd ever be approved like that by the FIA, there isn't enough room if things go bad to bend over and kiss you ass goodbye.

I'm not sure, but as soon as those complimentary second seats got provided for the obese, you better believe I was annoying as hell to enter into height based idle chit chat with at a party.

Also of note is the fact that the limiting factor on the airplane is still the number of exit doors, so no matter how many wet dreams you have about a seat getting approved it makes zero difference unless you cut more holes in the side for people to escape.
