It's not about those lenses that change colour (those are stupid too, but I see you're trying to kill two birds with one stone), it's not about leaving them on as you walk in the door, no.

It's the people who are deep inside a mall (or whatever), shopping at Sportchek (or whatever), and rocking their dumb looking Oakleys (or whatever). If you're inside, just take your sunglasses OFF. It's not hard. Put them in your case, in your pocket, on top of your head, around your neck, WHATEVER. If you're rocking sunglasses when sunlight is not a factor, 90+% of the people around you think you look stupid.

Are there people who do it here? Why do you do it? If it's convenience then surely you can't be THAT lazy can you?
How do you know that the person hasn't recently had laser eye surgery done?

My sunglasses are not very dark (they're photochromic) and I will wear them inside once in awhile. If my eyes can still be seen, is it OK ?

My eyes are very light sensitive so I can't leave them in my vehicle. If I walk out of a building on a bright day especially if fresh snow is on the ground my eyes water so bad I just can't see. And I'll have a sneezing fit.

The refusal of the U.S. to board the metric train bothers me more than the date format.

Why they failed to make that a US stimulus project is still beyond me.

The convenience and sensibility of it is unassailable, but it still isn't enough to convince some people.

Sorry to bring up the dates again, but it was my gear grinder, and you f'ers got to talk about it all day, while I was actually working...

The common response I just read is that it's said "month, day, year", well, I agree with you... That's why I want it to be yyyy-mm-dd. You'd still read it as Feb sixth, and let your brain take care of that pesky year being at the front instead of the back. It's so much more logical to have it written this way. It is impossible to confuse when you know it's in descending order. Your brain can learn things like this. I mean, if you asked me what time it is right now, I might say "ten to five". Would you still write it as 4:50? Yeah. So no matter how it's said, reading it is different, and should be clear and consistent. OF course, now I've just opened up the 24 hour clock debate.

Anyway, the reason I started whining about it was because I was reading a few different things on an ongoing interest, and articles that dated back a few years were dated, but the date format was constantly different. Not the end of the world, but I like clarity. Another thing that pissed me off the other day was that I googled a certain vehicle I'm kinda looking for, and an ad came up, and I wasn't sure if it was from feb 1st, or Jan 2nd. It's stupid that it's not immediately clear.

I feel the same way, but replace sunglasses-guy with toque-as-fashion-accessory-guy.

Speaking of sunglasses though, a few years ago I had to have surgery on my eye, and it was extremely sensitive to light so I had to wear my dark Ray-Bans non-stop for two weeks while they adjusted. This was when I was still working inside of a somewhat corporate office...so it was pretty funny rocking shades doing regular menial tasks. Working on my computer in shades, attending office meetings in shades, going to the bathroom in shades, standing around in the shade in shades. I felt like Don Johnson or something.

I don't. But I'm allowed to let it bother me without knowing the whole story.

I'd be extremely willing to bet that the people wearing sunglasses inside for medical reasons make up less than 20% of the overall group.

I like those odds, I'm just going to let myself be bothered by it regardless.

*nod* Some medications, too, cause photophobia. We've experienced that here. Their eyes were light sensitive before being ill and even after finishing the long term medications prescribed to deal with the disease, there is still the issue. Add in a case of crud because of minor illness and a less than fantastic immune system, and I've got one around here who keeps several pairs of sunglasses in the house and puts them on when it gets very bright in here, or when they open the door to let the critters out. Great fun.

And then there's the mix of Table 5's toque guy and strombad's sunglasses everywhere guy, who has both on, with the carefully perfected slouchy boobish bit hanging off the back of his head.

The endless stream of contrived TV ads featuring a Jim Hughson voice over. Not only is he a shameless Canuck lover he's an even more shameless sell out. Stick to (excellent) play-by-play man.

Kind of trivial, but when you end up at the US website of a company with stores in both Canada and the US (let's say Staples), and you have to enter a postal code to browse. Instead of just recognizing the postal code you entered was a Canadian one and re-directing you to the Canadian website, it just throws errors. It just seems like a very simple programming step to provide a look-up table of world postal codes, or at least recognize the format of the postal code you entered and re-direct you.

It would also be nice if websites, Air Canada for example, recognized that you were connecting to their website from a Canadian IP in an English-speaking province and didn't make you select from drop-down boxes that you were from Canada and wanted the website loaded in English by default.

What GMG is this: When I'm behind a car in the left lane at a red light and the car is not signalling to go left so I'm assuming it's going straight. The light turns green and then the car in front of me puts on his/her signal light to turn left so now I am stuck waiting for them to turn instead of being able to go straight.

You don't have to use the drop down; just click the "Canada- English" button.

Spoiler!

I agree on the clarity issue, which is why I date everything 07FEB14. Every piece of software I use accepts it just fine.

Well, I feel dumb. For some reason I had never noticed that. My brain just ignored it as some fine print.

In that spot, at rush hour, that's the textbook definition of Justifiable Homicide. He deserved to die, no questions asked.
