If we are picking 4,5,6th again. who would be the top choice?
ill assume Ekblad, Reinhart, Bennett are gone.
So Im gonna say Virtanen cause at that point I think you risk it for the quickly rising gritty winger.
Thoughts?

I'm liking Nick Ritchie. Seems to be exactly the kind of player Burke values.

I would take Dal Colle. There's a top tier of 4 or 5 (Ekblad, Reinhart, Bennett, Dal Colle, and maybe Draisaitl) who are all pretty close and then a drop off from there. I just hope the Flames finish in that top 4, but of course what will really happen is that they'll finish 5th, and then some team ahead of them in the standings will win the draft lottery to bump the Flames down to that 6th spot again.

Most won't feel this way but he's very young, former 1st overall WHL pick, big, strong, fast, talented and tough.
I'd take him over Reinhart, I think he's a reincarnated bigger Iginla with better wheels.
Just me.

I've read some teams have Draisaitl as #1. I hope he does go high to give us a better shot at Ekblad, Reinhart, or Bennett. Not getting one of those, I like Virtanen too along with Fleury. They are both rising in the rankings.

As is The Flames M.O., they will probably be in a position to draft one of those guys. Both would benefit the team.

Opinions on Draisaitl seem to be all over the map. McKenzie has Draisaitl at 5th, Craig Button has him at 11th, and some teams (supposedly) have him at #1.
This is an unpredictable draft. I'm guessing one of MDC, Reinhart, or Draisaitl will be our guy.

The way things are going for the flames this year, I'll guess they go on an epic winning streak and get something like the #8 or 9 pick. I can see the flames making a trade to either move up a lot and get Ekblad or move down and get a player to help them now.

What about Nikolaj Ehlers. LW for the Mooseheads, 52gp 32g 43a 75p. Not, big - 5'11", 163, and I could see arguing he's redundant with Baertschi and Gaudreau already in our system, but could he be a trade-down-to-grab target?
He's rocketed up a couple of lists, specifically The Hockey Writers who have him 4th and HockeyProspect.com who have him ranked 3rd.

Big scoring winger is just what we need Gaudreau - Monahan - Virtanen
Sounds good to me

I'm hoping he makes enough noise down the stretch to be picked by Edmonton. Would fit in very well with the rest of their top 6 . I'd much prefer drafting a big scoring RW, two-way center or strong defenseman. Wouldn't be opposed to trading down if we're sitting at 5 or 6 (Reinhart, Ekblad, Bennett, Draisaitl, Dal Colle gone) and there's a team a few spots away willing to overpay. We could still get a great prospect in Virtanen/Fleury/Ritchie plus another piece.

A valid concern with Ehlers are his offensive numbers are being boosted by Drouin.

Latest Flames chances (including lottery oods)
1st overall 11%
2nd overall 3%
3rd overall 13%
4th overall 23%
5th overall 28%
6th overall 15%
7th overall 5%
8th overall 2%
9th overall 1%
The recent play of the Flames and other basement dwellers has increased the chance the Flames will fall out of the top 5 by 5%.

I'm fine with picking 8th or 9th cause that means the flames might pick virtanen or fleury.

I'd be fine with one of those two guys too but I'd be happier with a top 3-5 pick

I will be satisfied with anyone in the top 10. Virtanen, Ritchie and Fleury are my favorites if we are beyond the top 5.
If we are in the top 5, I would want Reinhart, Ekblad, or Bennett. But those are a longshot. Draisaitl is also a good one.

Ritchie is a big forward too, don't be surprised if that is what Burke goes for.

Draisaitl dominating Virtanen tonight.
No idea how anyone could have Virtanen above him.

Virtanen would be nice at number 6 but he doesn't have the playmaking to beat out any of the top 5.

And then Virtanen gets 2 in a row.
Still, my point stands.
