Always thought code name scorpion was underated. That album wasn't a club banger but if you appreciate hip hop it was a " If you know you know type album. Still one of my go to first albums
and you have no idea how hard it is to miss the major arteries and still get under cartilage.
Always loved that bar. That Battle Axe records run was pretty great, shame they fell off as harder than Rawkus. The indie era (is that blog era? F if I know) had a lot of bangers
Edit: I’ll add that I’ll take the Battleaxe Warriors compilation over any album from the label’s discography. Perfect album full of old man skater bangers start to finish.
It's ironic that that account is called Off the Top because there's no way that's off the top haha.
This is the freestyle that's burning up the internet for the last month. The style switching makes it pretty impressive. Schemes aren't as advanced for sure but this is more what off the top looks like. Great beat selection too.
Sort of related, Rick Ross posted a very cringe video to speak to him and his crew getting jumped in Vancouver last weekend during a Rick Ross show for playing, "Not Like Us", in Vancouver.
And, as an update, Killer Mike was phenomenal last night! He's just such a genuine person and so gracious and grateful. He performed the entire Michael album (I think...going from memory) and then some classics like Reagan, Kryptonite, Never Scared and Kill Jill. Just a great show!

I've never been a big fan of Eminem, but this new album is really good.
Easily top 4 album of his career. Right up there with Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show.
And honestly the concept of Eminem vs Slim Shady and the way he has his current self almost reflecting on his past self and telling him that he can't do the things he used to do was great.
Maybe no real party songs or bangers...but from front to back it's a great story and great album.
Now please just go on a tour with Dr.Dre and the rest of the guys from the Super Bowl half time show.

Ah regret not making an effort to go...had already went to AEW the night before and didn't feel like going to the grounds back to back nights...will have to make an effort to get out to a Run The Jewels show one day.

God damn I haven't seen a Nardwuar video in 5 or 6 years. Kind of awesome he's still doing these interviews. Actually forgot about him but I was listening to some hip-hop on YT yesterday and his latest interview with Snoop got recommended to me, then I saw this interview with Warren G which was freaking awesome. Now I'm going to have to go through and binge watch this guys channel over the coming week(s).

His ability to ask questions that artists never see coming truly amazes me. Obviously he sets it up before hand with someone from the camp to get some info but to consistently find someone close enough who's willing to take the time and then create an interview from that is always cool to see.
Time for the annual "can I scrape together a top 10 list this year?" exercise. There may be a theme
ScHoolboy Q - Blue Lips
Vince Staples - Dark Times
Blu & Royal - Royal Blu
Blu & Evidence - Los Angeles
Kendrick - GNX
Ab-Soul - Soul Burger
Larry June - Doing It for Me
Dom Kennedy - Class of 95
Lil Keke - Can't Rain Forever
Your Old Droog - Movie
Look at that, 10 what do you know.
