Can't make trades to get better in the off season?

Frolik wants out and he'll be obliged. Minnesota will still want to shed salary. It'll just look a bit different.

Wonder if Russo actually has new info or is just reiterating the rumours already out there. Especially since Boomer specifically responded to the Frolik+1st rumour.

Russo is usually very connected to the Wild.

Must be awkward for Frolik but whatever. Those dumb tweets by his agent did him no favours, he’s as good as gone this summer.

Edler
Stone
Zucker
Simmonds

..off the top of my head.

Treliving tried really hard to add a big piece on this deadline, but was halted at every turn for one reason or another.

Lebrun also said on the 2 Man Advantage podcast that he knows Treliving tried to get Zuccarello and then tried for Hayes too.

Oh of course. But I think a bit of this trade was to get better right now. I feel there will be better options out there. I personally dont care to add the term and $ of Zucker. Just my personal opinion of course.

Sounds like Treliving. In on everything that moves, but not bucking on price. Would have been nice to add a bigger piece for the 2/3 line, but wasn't to be.
This team does have 5 top 6 forwards and then a bunch of guys in that 3/4 line level, but they have been getting it done. Now we hope for at least one of:
Playoff Neal
Bennett steps up
3M sticks
A bottom line clutch scorer

Just what you would want and expect from Treliving... in on everything, but firm on price. Looking for good deals only.

Seems like there was some bad luck along the way as well. Which is probably going to turn out to be a good thing.

I have so much faith in Treliving.

He’s so even keeled and is always busy seeing who is available. We’re lucky.

THIS. We have a very good GM in Tre. Compared to the gong shows for a lot of other teams in the league where you wonder who the hell is actually running things. We have it really lucky. I completely trust the guy.

The fact he was "white hot" about the Zucker thing makes me think something went really haywire.

Mind you, Treliving is thoughtful, pragmatic and not given to doing deals out of emotion, but I bet he's a guy who doesn't suffer fools gladly.

I wouldn't be so sure Minnesota will have the same GM in place. Fenton's made some rough Chiarelli-esque moves. If the Wild don't make the playoffs, I think he's gone

Yeah....no.

He has only been on the job for 9 months.

He was pretty much given carte blanche to start a rebuild in Minneapolis is that was the direction he chose.

That's what this looks like.

Sure he didnt get enough in return for Granlund, at least that's the concensus.

But rebuilds, when done right, are ugly for fan bases. He is accumulating young talent and draft picks, which is what the Zucker deal would have been as well. Another 1st to add on to their existing 1st.

This thing has just started i would think, since it appears he wants to reshape the whole team and drive out several core pieces. No idea what they do with Parise though and that one is gonna hurt for a while if rebuild is indeed the road he wants to go down.

If it was important for the Wild to make the playoffs, they would not have traded Granlund.

But they didn't trade him for a prospect or pick
It was a straight hockey move. Player for player
I don't fully understand it but it does seem like they soured on Granlund. But if they had wanted to - they could have traded him and not worry about getting a roster player back.

Eklund claiming the Flames tried to get Eric Staal and Brian Elliott at the deadline. Don’t believe either

I think there should be an eklund only thread. Like the last goaltender the flames would get is Brian Elliott
