I was told that Draisaitl will almost certainly be taken higher than one of Ekblad or Reinhart and perhaps both. Some teams have him first overall on their list.
I'm of the mindset that Draisaitl is a step below Ekblad, Reinhart and Bennett, though. That's just my opinion.

Haven't watched him play a lot but it doesn't shock me that's he's ranked so high by some. I think him and Morrisey are basically PA's whole team and he's still scoring in bunches despite getting keyed in on every game as a 17 year old with almost no secondary scoring up front.
They have been pretty bad this year and when you look at the guys on his line and what they've done with their previous teams, Conroy and Valcourt were 3rd liners/fringe players for most of their dub careers..
Too bad really because I think PA had an opportunity to win that division if they added some talent around him, Valcourt was an OK pickup but when you look at what Kootenay has done with Reinhart, bringing in Bozon and Franko and really adding some good secondary scoring, he's been in a way better position to succeed.

I'm hoping that we can somehow push that up to 8 or 9 through dealing off players at the draft.

I know. It's more hope than anything.
More darts to fire at the board the better.

Our Jessica Fletcher
|
With...
Florida getting Luongo
Edmonton running Scrivens/Fasth duo
Calgary decimated with injuries, and a MacDonald/Ortio tandem
I can see us falling back into that top 3.

David Berstein McKeen's scouting director talks about a few OHL players projected to go around the 2nd/3rd round
http://www.thepipelineshow.com/clips...rstyn_Mar1.mp3
Summary
RW Spencer Watson- lead all Team Canada players in points at the Ivan Hlinka
- on a line with Bennett and Ikonen and arguably one of the most productive and efficent lines in the OHL
- stealth like in his approach, don't notice him that much but at the end of the day he has points
- doesn't do anything exceptionally well except for setting up well for a one timer
- his skating isn't there, a little undersized, defensive enthusiasm needs to be worked on
- has succeeded at every level of hockey so far and NHL teams have taken notice
- if he has a very good playoffs his stock could climb
- could be a quality goal scorer at the NHL level, the strength will come, can teach defensive responsibility
- some concern about it being his draft year and not putting in an extra effort and working on the small things
- probably a late 2nd round pick, could rise into the top of the 2nd
D Anthony DeAngelo- is undersized and looks small on the ice
- when you look at the things he can do with the puck, supporting cast and fact he scored more goals than any OHL dman in 14 less games
- can control the pace of the game and is a gamebreaker in that sense
- plays full 2 minutes on the PP
- one of those guys that has an innate instinct for the game with the puck
- got to work on defensive responsibilities (has played games where he is a -5 or -6)
- has all the abilities to be an Erik Karlsson/Morgan Rielly type of defenceman due to his offensive skills
- size concerns and maturity concerns off the ice will effect his draft stock
- Ryan Murphy was a gamebreaker because he had break neck speed and tremendous shot.
- DeAngelo is more methodical in his approach. He holds on to the puck for a split second longer while his linemates get open. Also has the ability to spearhead a rush. DeAngelo doesn't have the supporting cast that Murphy did.
- A little different than Ellis or Murphy, don't see him being in the top 15 range.
D Alex Peters- 6'4'' 205lbs shoots L
- isn't that much of a physical force
- more of an angler and contains guys
- his brother is G Justin Peters
- only a -2 on the 2nd worst offensive team in the OHL
- skates fairly well for size, decent puck skills, never going to be confused for an offensive dman
C/RW Eric Cornel- 6'1'' 185lbs shoots R
- lots of criticism when he was drafted into the OHL with Mccann and Ho-Sang still on the board
- has slowly become the player Peterborough thought he was
- looks a lot more comfortable on the wing after Hunter Garlent was traded to the Petes
- knock on him early on the season was he wasn't competing very hard, still a little bit of a concern
- is now using his size to muscle guys off the puck in down low situations
- oozes skill, highly cerebal, has great chemistry with Nick Ritchie
- with a good workout regimen he could easily put on 25lbs
- great skater
LW Brendan Lemieux- 6'1'' 209lbs shoots L
- much like his father Claude
- sort of has a screw loose
- he is effective when he is pesky and works hard on the forecheck
- has to be smarter about the unnecessary penalties he takes
- he is good for 2-3 penalties a game
- has fought twice this year (against some heavyweights) which he will probably have to keep doing in the NHL if he keeps playing the same role
- what makes him a player is his play in front of the net and in the trenches
- when he is moving his feet you can't stop him
- has sweet hands has more than 20 goals
- playing top 6 in Barrie (team not incredibly strong on left side)
- got to be more consistent on backcheck
- a serviceable Darcy Tucker/Matt Barnaby type guy
- strong 2nd round pick
- walks the fine line on becoming a dirty player and at NHL level can't give up PPs as much as he is doing now

I liked Brendan Lemieux at the prospect game he is the type of player you hate when they are playing against your team. The Flames haven't had a player like this since Ville Nieminan, I would have no problem using one of our 2nd rd picks on this guy

I'd be interested in Ben Thomas with our late 2nd/early 3rd. Like his game. Can pitch in with points and has good wheels. Good size, and a Right Hand shot.
