Really? I've seen several reports and read both national and local news reports and the race of the people involved wasn't mentioned.
What have you seen?

Been wandering around FB and Twitter. This pic is one of the softer versions of a lot of what I've been seeing out there:
It's even pretty quickly debunked.
197 arrests (how many do you need to qualify as 'mass'?)
Tear gas wasn't used, true...bullets were.
The incident didn't take very long. The NG takes a long time to mobilize. I hav heard that the Texas Rangers were called out to assist, though.
Most every (none social media) platform I've seen and even a decent chunk of the social media ones seems pretty content to call these guys (and rightfully so) as Thugs. Murderers, gang members and criminals also get tossed in there a lot.

Yeah, that's definitely dumb, but I don't get the "race baiting" thing. Even that silly (for the reasons you pointed out) image isn't hacking on fat white guys. It's saying that there are two sets of rules, which I believe is true.
If there were 200 young black men shooting each other in a suburban mini-mall parking lot in Texas, I think the response by both the police and media would be different.

My god did you even read any of this? The Police opened fire on the gang members and likely killed some, up to 9.
Jesus tap dancing christ. What is a more aggressive response than opening fire and killing people?

Jesus tap dancing christ? Okie doke.
I guess it's a "yes or no" kind of deal for me.
Would the response by the police and media have been the same if this was 200 black gang members in that parking lot in Texas? I think yes, it would have been different.
You think "no". Fair enough.
I think the cops did a fine job, btw.

The implication that they would handle it differently, as suggested by this image, is that the black people would have been treated worse.
That image is trash race baiting. 170+ arrests. Dead gang bangers. Police shooting to kill.
How could the police have handled it with any more force?

Well I guess they could have shot more people. That guy on his phone in that image, he could have been cuffed. Lots of things could have happened.
This isn't revolutionary stuff I'm talking about here. This is Texas—different people get different treatment. If you don't agree, fine, but that's how it looks to me.
This seems to have gone remarkably well, considering how many of these criminals were out there trying to kill each other. I don't think it's a stretch to say that things could have been very different if this was the Bloods and the Crips having a shootout in the 'burbs.
But maybe not. Neither of us know.

Makes me sick to think that there were children and families in the same complex having dinner at a restaurant nearly while this took place.

The 170 were charged as "engaging in organized crime" and some murder charges to follow.
Bail set at $1 million each!

It would disturb me if families with kids were eating at Twin Peaks at the best of times.
Looks like cops shot about 4 of them. And more bikers are heading to Texas to carry on....the HoJo isn't even taking reservations.

But that wouldn't happen. It never happens. When was the last time you heard about a large group of Crips and Bloods (or similar groups) having a rumble Outsiders style?
It just doesn't happen.
So to make any kind of judgement about how it would have been handled differently in that kind of a situation is a huge reach.
Oh, and for the record, plenty of minority presence among these biker gangs. They have both Hispanic and black members and they were among those arrested.
I would venture to guess that the 4 shot by the police were shooting at the police.

CNN reporting the bikers have put out a hit on the cops for "killing our brothers" saying they will run them over, shoot them and use C-4.
Sounds like Harley jihad.

Always sad to have to bump this thread, and yet here we are.
Quote:
-- An official close to the investigation told CNN there are multiple fatalities inside the church. The source said there are several bodies in the church that have not yet been identified.
-- The suspect in the shooting is a clean-shaven white man in his 20s, with a slender build, police say
-- Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call 911 dispatchers
|
Various reports on twitter are suggested there were 8 or 9 fatalities, and that the shooter is still at large.

A white guy killing 8 black people in a church is the opposite of what the US needs right now.

9 confirmed dead. In the general scheme of US mass shootings it's actually anomalous for somebody to kill this many people and flee the scene... enter the biggest manhunt in US history if this goes on for any extended period.

Sadly the only thing that will probably come out of this is the NRA lobbying (and probably succeeding) to allow guns in churches so people can protect themselves. This needs to stop already, instead nothing will happen.

And wow CNN sucks. Going to "Breaking News", Brian Williams is staying at NBC? What a mighty steep fall for CNN, used to be the go to source now it's pretty much pure trolling. Last place will do that to you.
