But he did say that IF the Jets were in the super bowl, they would have beat the Packers. either way he needs to stop talking for a minute, although teams probably tend to bring their "A" game in order to shut him up

They look better than they did in 2009 when they started 4-6. Right now I am not worried. I sometimes wish he wouldn't talk, but he manages to fix his team's issues by the end of the season.

Did not see this coming:

One of the NFL's all-time great centers is walking away from the game. Olin Kreutz, a six-time Pro Bowler, four-time All Pro, and member of the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 2000s, has left the Saints.

Actually, Al was only responsible for drafting 5 off that list, and Madden would make 6 ( I suppose Al himself (who is listed twice, would make 7). The rest were all before Al Davis took over in '63 or were drafted by other teams and then subsequently played for the Raiders.

Otto
Biletnikoff
Blanda
Brown
Madden
Upshaw
Shell
Casper
Hendriks
Long
Haynes
Davis himself.
Funny this doesn't look like 6 names.
All are in the HOF. Davis is who they owe. Madden Davis hired and unless there was some mystery team Madden also coached for.
There are 3 NCAA trophys named after Raiders Davis drafted
Biletnikoff WR
Guy Punter
Hendriks DE

And word just came out today that the Saints were even shopping Kreutz prior to his announcement. Kinda makes you wonder if he was just trying to save face through this whole thing.
de la Puente now assumes the starting role, which should be manageable for this year. Saints 3-0 in games he's started so far.

Found this intereting tidbit about the packers 6-0 start...
Quote:
Over the past 30 years, according to ESPN Stats & Information, the Packers are the seventh NFL team to win their first six games by at least seven points. Five of the previous six have reached the Super Bowl, and the sixth -- the 2005 Indianapolis Colts -- finished the regular season 14-2. What does this all mean? Basically that it takes a legitimately elite team to do what the Packers have done already this season.
|
Also if they beat the Vikes tomorrow (looking like a good possibility with ponder getting his first start and one of the Vikes starting CB's sitting in a jail cell) it will set a franchise record of 13 straight win in games that count for something...thats a long and storied history as well, so this is a pretty major accomplishment.

I mentioned Madden. I also mentioned Davis.
Let's looks at the list:
Otto joined the Raiders in '60 when Al was still a part of the Chargers staff.Davis wasn't connected with the Raiders until 1963.
Blanda played with Chicago, Baltimore and Houston before he played for Raiders.
Willie Brown played for the Broncos first.
Bob Brown Played Eagles and Rams.
Hendricks played for the Colts and Packers before the Raiders.
Mike Haynes was a Patriot before the Raiders
Suddenly the list of guys Al Davis drafted (your original contention was "Not to mention Al Davis has drafted more HOF players than any single person at 20") is no where near 20.
Allen
Biletnikoff
Upshaw
Shell
Casper
Long
So I see 6.
You seem pretty passionate about the Raiders. You also seem pretty darn ignorant about them.

Plus, he tried very, very hard to keep Allen out of the Hall. That's where my disdain for Al Davis stems from, other than the fact that he was the face of the team I have hated above all for the last 35 years.

Carolina would be winning this game comfortably if they didn't punch people after the play was over. (twice already)

After a great start to the NFL season these early games have pretty much all been dogs so far in the first half.
Hopefully they pick up in the second half and we can see some double digit total scores.

San diego 21 Jets 10 at the half.
Falcons manhandling the Lions as well.
Texans up 20.
But the rest are painful no doubt...

I was typing that just as the Falcons scored but prior to that score the game was pretty boring as well. Defense and special teams getting yards with the offenses pretty much sucking.

The Redskins-Carolina game hasn't been that bad. Lots of good plays but no TDs in the first half. Teams getting into the red zone and stalling due to good defense.
Panthers have a TD now, 16-6

For a supposed "elite" offence, the Lions are brutal in the red zone. Due to fantasy purposes I've been watching them a lot this year, the amount of times I've seen them settle for an FG within the 10 is crazy.
