World War Z was added recently...I really enjoyed it. Apparently it's quite the departure from the book which displeased a lot of people, but judging the movie alone I would give it a 3.5/5.

Fast paced and entertaining IMO.

As a movie - meh. Moderately entertaining zombie action flick basically.

As far as the book, saying it's "quite the departure" doesn't really cover it. The only thing it has in common with the book is the title and zombies. It's as much a departure from the book as it is a departure from, say, War and Peace.

Makes me want to read the book then. Yeah, I'm not saying the movie was groundbreaking, but I found it entertaining...it's zombie movie.

Book is quite neat, very different but in a good way.

Obligatory:

Anyone else check out the first episode of From Dusk Till Dawn? Not bad- has me interested enough to watch the second episode next week. One episode will be put up per week.

I've been watching about 2-3 episodes of The X-Files for the past couple weeks now. I wasn't really old enough to fully appreciate the material when it originally aired so it's great to be able to watch them all again. It'll probably take me a couple years to finish all 200+ episodes but a good option when there's nothing good on TV.

I'm only on season one and the show hasn't fully come into it's own yet, but definitely picks up speed and quality.

I just watched the first three episodes. Really liking it so far, although it'd be better if they showed boobs. 8/10

Do it, the book was incredible. So good. I bought it on my iPad, first book I have read in digital format. Not that that adds anything to the book, just thought I'd mention it.

Scew you guys, it was a big step for me.

I've gotten to season 4 of Chuck, I'd forgotten how hot Sarah Walker was, and how good Adam Baldwin was in that series.

Just added:

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil
Expecting to relax at their "vacation" cabin, two backwoods boys see their trip turn into a nightmare when they're accused of being psychotic killers.

Really fun movie, give it a shot!

Is it a new feature in Netflix for it to skip the opening into and "previously on" parts of a show when you watch episodes back to back? Never noticed it before until today watching Homeland, but damn what an awesome feature

It's been that way as long as I've had Netflix, and I agree, it's pretty nice.

It must only be for certain shows then. Never did it for House of Cards or Orange Is The New Black

I've noticed it do that on the Playstation, but not the computer or the Wii. It's a great idea, but sometimes it skips too far and cuts off the start of the show.

Pleasantly surprised to see The Punk Singer up on Netflix. I believe they are screening this during Sled Island at The Globe Cinema as well, so wasn't expecting it to turn up on streaming services for a while yet.

Quote:
The Punk Singer
Filmmaker Sini Anderson charts the life of feminist punk rocker Kathleen Hanna(Bikini Kill, Le Tigre), who suddenly and mysteriously retired from the music scene in 2005.
Kathleen Hanna is Sled Island's Guest Curator this year as well.

Turns out another recent punk/alternative doc I've been looking for has turned up on Netflix as well. Good for a night with no hockey.

Quote:
The Other F Word
This documentary examines a generation of punk rockers who must reconcile fatherhood and family with their status as legendary anti-authoritarians.
Explores fatherhood from the perspective of punk rockers/skate punks whom have gone on to "grow up" and have families of their own.

- Tony Cadena - The Adolescents
- Art Alexakis - Everclear
- Rob Chaos - Total Chaos
- Joe Escalante - The Vandals
- Josh Freese - Session Drummer
- Fat Mike - NOFX
- Flea - Red Hot Chili Peppers
- Lars Frederiksen - Rancid
- Matt Freeman - Rancid
- Jack Grisham - TSOL
- Brett Gurewitz - Bad Religion
- Tony Hawk - Pro Skater
- Greg Hetson - Circle Jerks
- Mark Hoppus - blink-182
- Jim Lindberg - Pennywise
- Mike McDermott - Bouncing Souls
- Tim McIlrath - Rise Against
- Mark Mothersbaugh - Devo
- Duane Peters - U.S. Bombs
- Joe Sib - SideOneDummy Records
- Ron Reyes - Black Flag
- Rick Thorne - BMX Rider

Should be of any interested to guys in their 30/40's who grew up with the warped tour and some of the Fat/Epitaph roster.

I've been researching the West Wing. Great show, especially now that I have a greater understanding of American politics. Definitely paved the way for a series like House of Cards.

I wonder if it's possible that both West Wing and House of Cards take place in the same universe 10ish years apart.

1. The F Word was an awesome documentary. It's funny seeing guys who raged against the system find themselves knee-deep in it.

2. The West Wing may be my favourite series of all time. If anybody is even half-interested, they should definitely give it a whirl.
