That's hardly a left vs right issue, plenty of morons all over the political spectrum act that way.
I guess the bigger question is why choose to participate in it

It was a tough vote. As a leader, I prefer Notley over Smith. I am personally pretty flexible and have voted for almost every party at one point or another. At the end of the day, after my due diligence, I preferred my UCP MLA over NDP.
It's tough to admit I'm hoodwinked, stupid, moronic, etc. but, there it is.

Well that makes sense, because the only places in Canada with healthcare are full of oil.

It must bother people like him knowing that the NDP are pro O+G and energy sector. Although I'm sure he'll shout to high heaven that that's not the case.

Well other places have more to offer. Alberta is in the process of diversifying which isn稚 a bad thing.
In the interim though, you still need money to pay everything.

Yeah it痴 weird, these companies are making billions more each year but my access to healthcare keeps getting worse?
No idea why that is, thought it was supposed to trickle down to me.
Perhaps we should try cutting more of their taxes.

UCP voters this time "don't call me names, I'm a human being and my option matters."
UCP voters any other election "you aren't voting UCP? What are you, stupid?"

Alberta WAS in the process of diversifying. The NDP were doing a great job of it, and then the UCP came in and started killing all of the credits used to incentivize new industries.....

It’s gonna be really interesting to see how badly “open for business” impacts the labour code and employment standards.

It's amazing how other states/provinces that don't have vast oil reserves can still have nice things like healthcare.
Would the Oil Giants pack up and leave if the NDP raised the corporate tax rates to match the rest of Canada? The answer is no.
Would the average Albertan benefit from the higher oil taxes/royalties? Resounding yes.
That oil belongs to Albertans - not Husky, not Imperial, not Suncor. It belongs to us.

Some of the comments in here are hilariously hypocritical. Call The UCP no better then our friends the Americans, then show the same level of contempt for others voting differently as so many republicans and democrats. Be better.

I知 a third generation Albertan and a life long Tory voter, but more of a red Tory supporter. I voted NDP for the first time in my life in this election. This morning I知 embarrassed to be an Albertan. I知 not looking forward to apologizing to friends and relatives across Canada for Alberta electing a Trump acolyte. And I知 downright terrified of what these wing nuts might do to Alberta.

Admittedly I don't fully understand how each party intends to improve our healthcare system, but in my line of work, I speak with a large share of doctors, all of whom have very differing opinions on what leadership is best for them. I find that interesting.
Last, I appreciate all those who voted and I emphasize and understand why many peopled voted NDP. Specifically speaking to this thread, I don't appreciate being called an "idiot" or "stupid" or "bigot" for voting UCP. Those kinds of comments just devalue an otherwise valid argument you are probably cable of making in support of your party.
|
If you don't appreciate being called a bigot, then don't vote for a party who nominates and elects bigots. It's a transitive property. You elected bigots, you are a bigot. There's not much to this. Doesn't matter what your reasons were, doesn't matter if you like your individual candidate, the result is that you've elected a group into power that aids and includes vocal bigots. Thus, you are a bigot.
You can decide whether that makes you an idiot. I think so.

For the record, that transitive property is now applied to all Albertans by those outside of the province, regardless of who you voted for individually. It's a transitive property for all of us, we as a province elected bigots and thus we will be seen as bigots by others.
