There's a bit of schtick in Frank's routine for sure for dramatic effect. That said he isn't the brightest bulb and some here are over valuing the extra attention a small part of the hockey demographic (Calgary fans) are in the grand scheme of things, so while he may troll for responses, there's also a level of cluelessness there too.

Moreso, he is trying to claim journalistic credibility as an insider, so this isn't Bissonette just spouting off for effect. He got punted from TSN after not that long. Flames are tight lipped around insiders and that doesn't please the lower level insiders like Frank. I think he thought things may be different with Conroy but they aren't, at least as far as Frank goes, so his brief romance with the Flames a year ago is done.

Frank hates doing his hits on 960 im pretty sure. Today's was funny, sounded like he was hardly paying attention. He was also shutting down the guys suggestions of players who could be involved in transactions like they were clueless and/or children.

It still amazes me how he never fails to have a juicy tidbit on every situation happening around the league. I don't know when he does all his investigating to know these things or who would bother giving him inside scoops but I doubt one guy is that well connected across 32 teams.

Definitely a pretend insider at least half of the time.

On Barn Burner you will often see him texting or browsing on his phone while they are having a discussion.

I get it on trade deadline day, but are you REALLY that important that a text message can't wait 20 minutes? It just comes across really unprofessional and like he doesn't give a crap about being there.

It's also funny he denies cheering for or against specific teams. Whenever he brings up Edmonton there is a sparkle in his eye. Why even pretend?

This has to be one of the most inane conversations I’ve seen on this forum. A bunch of, presumably, grown men seeking out and actively discussing hockey rumours and ideas/theories are complaining about the hockey journalists that write about the very topic they’re so intrigued by.

For all the misplaced flak Frank seems to be getting here he’s close to the mark on many or most things. Frank, Elliot, whoever, these guys are just doing their job. It’s also free content they put out there.

I don't think people are criticizing the trade insiders like Dreger or Friedman? They are fine and they do their job and try to be unbiased.

Frank on the other hand if you ever watch the program, actively hates Calgary and Vancouver. He also acts like one of the most arrogant people I have ever seen.

If fact he said they weren’t very good this past year. Don’t believe me? Go listen to each of his podcasts on the hockey show this past season. He took a dumb argument and dug in. Again, he’s a content creator. It’s his job to stir the pot and evidently he’s done a good job of it because it looks like some people here are actually upset by this. He probably doesn’t care and knows full well it’s not much different than it is in Pennsylvania and the penguins/flyers. He didn’t fall off the truck yesterday.

I think fans have a tough time getting their heads around the idea that members of the media are not also fans. Seravelli, Friedman, Dreger, Johnston - none of these guys have strong feelings about the Flames, or the Oilers, or any team other in the league.

Stop and consider for a moment how you feel about the Wild. Or the Islanders. Probably nothing, right? That’s how Seravelli feels about the Flames.
