Is it "GG will continue to be our coach and we love him!" or do we go with option C and bring Don Hay back?

I can rule out one of those options. Peter's will not be returning to Carolina. The new owner apparently knows absolutely nothing about hockey. The delay is strictly negotiating the settlement on the opt out clause.
To be fair, my source never seems to think Calgary is an option... A few times said it would surprise them. However that being said, some personal information that was shared, I just don't see how Calgary wouldn't be at the top of the list for him if Calgary is indeed offering the job.
If a MOD needs to verify my source, they can PM me

I see the problem here.

Yesterday you said your source "felt positive" Calgary was one.

If a guy from Three Hills with limited NHL success turns down the Flames, that's a bigger issue for me.

If all things were equal then sure. If he has a better offer from somewhere else then I wouldn't worry about it.

I suppose, but then wouldn't we be in negotiation mode, not just "here's an offer" followed by "no thanks"? If we can't outbid Ottawa...

Feels like I'm on hockey central with all the sources on here, who knows what is credible and what isn't.
Mods, can you confirm whether a source is reasonable or not, at least? It'll help protect the credible sources and debunk any false rumors.

Easiest is to assume none are credible...

Maybe? I have no idea what/where they are in the process. I'm not the one saying they would be worried if we get turned down though.
All we know is an offer has maybe been made, and that he has until Friday to get out of his contract with Carolina. Not time to worry about "what if we get turned down" yet.

7-10 days, I can live with that. But make it an NHL winning coach or gtfo.

True..
If that's the case though, then you might as well devalue CP completely with all the people throwing around their "sources"
It's like that kid on Twitter during the Jagr signing watch who kept claiming he had sources and named like 20 teams. I'm sure people with credible sources would appreciate that notion.

I don’t understand why Gulutzan hasn’t been fired yet. In my mind there’s no scenario where he should be considered coming back, Peters or not. And that goes for the entire coaching staff.

Don't know why on earth there would be a bidding war for a .500 coach, but as long as it keeps him away from the Flames I'm fine with it. No hurt feelings. Maybe he has potential, and that's what GMs are seeing, but given the Flames' situation and the "experiment" they're coming off of, it's not a chance worth taking at this point. This team needs the closest thing they can get to a proven commodity as their next bench hire. That goes for the special teams coaches, too. BT had his opportunity to try to outsmart everyone with an off the board pick and it didn't pan out.
Own it, do those guys a solid and give them time to get another gig lined up so that they know what they're doing next season, and let's go out and pay the necessary price land the big fish to get this young core moving in the right direction so that we can make something of the next few years. Get the city back behind the team with a more enticing product and maybe the tires can start rolling on that next arena, too.
