Staffers running to buy alcohol for Rob Ford seems to have been quite common, as is Rob Ford being drunk while in office.

He also would regularly call in and tell his staff that he wasn't coming in that day, or for a few days.

St Patricks day 2013:

Mayor Rob Ford snorted cocaine, swilled vodka, popped a dose of Oxycontin and partied with an apparent prostitute during an all-night binge last year that raved from his office to a private room in a Toronto bar, Ford staffers and bar employees alleged to police investigating the mayor.
Several of Ford’s top aides told detectives they were concerned about the mayor’s intoxicated, addled and even violent behaviour the night of St. Patrick’s Day 2012.
Before the tumultuous night was over, they told police, Ford would call a cab driver a “Paki,” deride several top aides as “Liberal bitches,” burst into tears about his deceased father and tell a former staffer that “I banged your p---y.”
Ford was “totally out of it” when staff member Isaac Ransom arrived at the mayor’s office around 9 p.m. The mayor had drunk half of a 40 oz. bottle of vodka and was hanging out with a woman who “may have been an escort or prostitute,” Ransom told police.

“There have been rumors that Mayor Ford has used escorts or prostitutes. (The woman) has also been seen with Mayor Ford at a stag party,” said the police document summarizing the interview with Ransom.
The mayor drunkenly talked of getting hammered and “going out then getting laid.”

I think this is getting out of hand. Yes, the mayor needs to be removed as soon as possible, but the Star et al should consider that this ridiculous over-the-top campaign may actually see him end up dead sometime soon. Making fun of Ford is easy, but this childishness is destructive, and will make things worse for the whole city.

I can see some of your point but I am unsure how any media outlet can walk away from this story. There are so many layers and so much content that keeps coming out its hard not to report it.

How about Rob Ford's family, and in particular Doug Ford, tell his brother to take a step back and go into some kind of therapy? I think the onus is on them.

Doug's an enabler, I think, and I doubt he's been all that pushy about Rob doing much of anything. I think he makes almost as many excuses for his brother's behavior as Rob does and any time he's given some piss poor soundbite, it has all the strength of weak tea. I don't buy that he didn't know about the crack use. Besides, from all appearances, Rob doesn't really listen to him anyway.

If anyone should be crawling up his ass about this, from his family, it should be his wife. Were I in her shoes, I'd have been telling him to clean his #### up or hit the grass a long time ago - and now with the stuff coming out about prostitutes and him blathering about 'getting laid?' Hit the road, Jack.

However, with addicts, and I find it fairly doubtful that he isn't, contrary to his vociferous bleating to the contrary, he's only going to change if he wants to, not because of what anyone else says or does - which would be a shame, since his marriage seems to be the only thing not in the news these days. However, given what's coming out, as I said in the above paragraph, I imagine it won't be long until that's in the news too.

I feel most sorry for his kids.

After announcing he plans to sue three former staffers and a waiter at the Toronto Bier Markt who told police he thinks he saw the mayor do cocaine, Ford dropped this bit of outrageous language:


"It hurts my wife when they call a friend of mine a prostitute. Alana is not a prostitute. She's a friend. And it makes me sick how people are saying this. So unfortunately, I have no other choice. I'm the last one to take legal action, I can't put up with it anymore. So I've named the names. Litigation will be starting shortly. I've had enough. That's why I warned you guys yesterday be careful what you wrote. That's all I have to say for now. And the next thing I want to call Mayor Bratina in Hamilton and tell them we are going to have to spank their little tiger cats. Oh and the last thing was Olivia Gondek, it says it says that I wanted to eat her #####. Olivia Gondek. I've never said that in my life to her. I would never do that. I'm happily married. I've got more than enough to eat at home. Thank you very much."
